Intriguing Options Volume 3: Nonhuman Characters

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Greetings, eager intriguer! Be not beleaguered! For in this volume, we offer players and GMs an array of intriguing options to add variety, depth, and dimension to any game of Honor + Intrigue. Do not think of this as a book of rules… they’re more like… guidelines on how to adapt your campaign in various ways.

This volume focuses on expanding your available cast of characters for sci-fi and fantasy swashbuckling. Most Honor + Intrigue characters are human, as the presumed campaign setting was Earth; however, if you want to set your Honor + Intrigue game in a fantasy or science-fiction world, use these rules to incorporate nonhuman characters. We've included guidelines and tools to help you build your own fantasy and science fiction folk. We’ve also included over 50 sample PC ancestries.

Or you can get the entire Intriguing Options series together (with some extra material) in the Tome of Intriguing Options.

What a coincidence! I've been running a space campaign and the red-skinned humanoids happen to come from the planet Rubicon.
Love the John Carter-y stuff in here. Going to have to run a Blasters + Intrigue game soon.

Hope you are enjoying it. We're going to be doing a Kickstarter to launch a compendium of all four volumes with additional content called the Tome of Intriguing Options. We've begun a mailing list for it. You can join directly here or read the added PDF. https://forms.gle/QyC8Z5VvzjbWv9ZE8

Lunarians remind of the ones in the Dick Tracy comic.

Yeah, they are a sort of a pastiche of various "moon men" that have appeared in different science fiction over the past couple centuries (and more recent stuff). But ironically, that is one I was not aware of!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
