Tables For One - A Solo Gamemaster Reference

ADD TO WISHLIST >

(Intro Excerpt) "Tables For One is a system-neutral d20-based collection of essential random tables designed to build worlds quickly and drastically reduce page-flipping during solo adventures. Nothing breaks immersion more than searching across seven RPG books looking for just the right thing. By mounting these pages across five pieces of heavy card-stock, the tables function as a “GM screen” intended to be placed atop your table and referenced at a glance, reducing clutter (or you can simply use it as another book). I have collected my most-used tables and presented them herein. As a design challenge, I’ve attempted to create tables that are comprehensive enough to cover most things in a fantasy setting, but general enough that the player can experience the joy of connecting the imaginitive dots. For example, if you encounter an animal in the wild, and you roll “Canine,” it is then up to you to figure out through the narrative context (or more tables) what kind of canine it would be. A “Man” in the wild might be a soldier, a sorcerer or a posessed cleric. Too vauge? Keep rolling! There are enough tables that the granular detail and generative possibilites are endless."

50 of the most-used Random Tables including Oracles (Yes / No and Open Questions), The Quest, Objects & Artifacts, Overland Travel, Weather, Atmospherics, Vegetation Density, Plants, Monsters, Animals, Points of Interest, Transportation, Random Encounters, Traveling Parties, Compass, NPC Generators, Names, Occupations, Character Traits (Commoners and High-Born), Settlements, Buildings, Materials, Colors, Textures, Space, Time, and MORE!

Is it worth 8 bucks? Hard question.

I have found more DM tools worth 8 bucks though, than I have found RPGs worth any sum of cash.

I'm willing to say it might be worth 8 bucks.
But I am already awash in this manner of item.

Maybe later.

Hi Michael!! I found your awesome YouTube channel and was wondering when you'd make another video? I am new to solo ttrpgs and think your solo resources are really awesome.

Also what dimensions do you recommend for printing TFO? Also the best thing to mount it on? Thanks!

Really enjoy the product, but it's murder on the old printer cartridge. Do you think you can make the entire product in a low-ink offering? I saw below you wanted to keep it full of art for the general public, but if most folks are printing this off, a low(er)-ink offering would be very useful. Also, recommend removing "small" city on the applicable table and just typing "city." The size was determined on a separate table... Thanks for what you did. This will become my go-to screen for solo play at the moment.

I can't find a 5 panel GM screen for this, where did you get yours for the photo? Was it custom made?

Hey Spencer - Sorry for the delayed response. I don't get notified when people comment here. I taped them to some magazine board I had. Or any thin cardboard/chipboard. Thanks!

Could you post a version where the instructional text is just on a white background? It's very hard to read.

I will update the intro tomorrow with a lighter background and make it available for download. I'm also happy to send you that page by itself with no background, but I'd like to keep the design in tact for the general public. Not sure if there's a way for you to send me your email, but that would be the best way to send you the file. Thanks for the feedback!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
