Welcome to Manitoba Pines, the pride of the Ranger Scout organization! For the last 57 years we have been rated one of the best youth summer camps in the nation. We have everything a camper could want: a clear lake, beautiful forests, and a staff second to none (that’s you).

Now that we have the common knowledge out of the way let’s get to the truth as to why you are here. Maybe you are here because you need a summer job, as many of you are still high school and college students. Maybe you just want to get some job experience. But the truth is no one comes to work at Manitoba Pines by choice. You are here by fate.

There is a side of this fine camp that few people outside of the staff know about, and that is a place we call the Back Forty. It is a section of the camp where the scouts are not allowed to go, and there is a reason for that.

Trust me friend, you will be doing more this summer than teaching 12 year olds how to tie knots and build campfires!

This product is Point of Insanity Game Studio’s contribution to DrivethruRPG’s PocketQuest 2022 Design Jam. The purpose of this event is to design a 20 page or less game within a two month period with a summer camp theme. The author of this product has eight years of experience working at a Boy Scout camp, so he could not resist this challenge.

Manitoba Pines is a rules light horror fantasy game that requires only a d6 and a d20. Players take the role of staff members trying to defend the camp from supernatural creatures that lurk deep in the woods. Each staff member receives magical gifts based on the four virtues of the Ranger Scout Oath: Compassion, Wisdom, Courage, and Strength. Manitoba Pines has rules for character advancement as well, allowing you to create a campaign that can last a single summer or several years.
