Time passes inexorably. Ages come and go, empires rise and fall, knowledge is found and lost, kings are celebrated and then forgotten, war and plague ravage the lives of many while a few enjoy the most exquisite pleasures... for a time. Everybody dies. But not you; you are called to survive them all and untangle the most well hidden secrets of the cosmos, even if the price is beyond what any other mortal is willing to pay.

You are called to Lichdom.

Lichdom is a solo roleplaying game about the ambitious journey of a sorcerer towards immortality, about the careful research to find lost knowledge in crumbling tombs and half buried cities, about overcoming the deathly perils that plague the world by sacrificing your own self, and about finding a way to keep your soul tied to this world at all costs before death comes knocking on your door. This is a narrative game, but it includes many game mechanics to shape your story with strategic decisions, such as Scheming and Scrying, Mundane and Arcane Companions, Favours and Rituals, Plots and Curses, Resolve and Doom. These game elements provide a depth of play beyond the underlying journaling experience that will make you the master of your own destiny. You will need two six-sided dice and a standard deck of cards to play the game (you can also use the Deck of Doom, a deck specially designed to play Lichdom that is sold separately, but it won't save your soul from inevitable ruin and doom).

Because I publish on Drivethru I can't leave a review, so I'm leaving a discussion, instead:

Folks, Lichdom is really good. I've played it twice so far and both times I was riveted. The story and mechanics are both top notch and work hand-in-hand to create an immersive experience. Solo games can often be more cerebral than emotional, but I felt a ton of excitement and emotion while playing Lichdom. I was flipping over cards faster like it would change the outcome. Each time I’ve played, the stories were incredible - both the one where I became a lich and the one where I ended up destroying all of space and time (oops). Lichdom has some very clever bits of design, without becoming bloated (looking at you, solo games with dice, cards, and Jenga). Hunting for precious aces, dreading the calamitous kings that get reshuffled in, and feeling like a god when I rearrange the future were all gems of design. If you’re into solo RPGs at all, I recommend you check Lichdom out.

I attempted to buy the PDF with the hardcover for $20. When I got to checkout, the shipping was over $15. Shipping almost doubled the price. So I didn’t buy. Sorry.
I saw this on me myself and I with Trevor Duvall. It looked really cool and I still want it.
I have to say that unless this product is originating from a colony on the planet mars, the shipping is too much. Could you check this to see if media mail could make it less? Otherwise I’ll buy the PDF and print it myself. I’d rather have the hardcover. I’ll wait to see if I get a reply from you, the publisher, regarding this and see what can be done if anything. Happy Gaming

Hi Robert,
I'm afraid I don't set the shipping costs or have a say in DrivethruRPG shipping partners, sorry.
Books are only printed in the US and UK, and shipping prices within these countries should be around $5. Shipping to other countries, including the EU, can get expensive depending on the specific country.

I went back and saw that media mail is now a choice. And I can get shipping at $4.50. I’m glad that this change was made. It wasn’t there before. Thank you for your kind and swift response.

I backed this on Kickstarter. It delivered quickly and this is very cool and fun. Much content here and great replayability. One of the best uses of public domain art I have seen. The rules are written well and flow in a logical, easy to follow manner.

I never imagined someone would create a solo RPG, based on the road to become a lich! If you are handing out review copies, I would love to feature it in my Youtube channel, is there an email where I can contact you?

I'm afraid I didn't get the tweet for some reason, but I'm not an avid tweeter user so maybe I missed something.
Just send me an email to feralwizardlibrary@gmail.com and we will take it from there!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
