YOU CAN NEVER RETURN TO YOUR HOMEWORLD.

THE CATACLYSMIC EVENTS THAT HAVE RENDERED IT A PART OF YOUR PAST HAVE FOREVER SEALED IT FROM YOUR FUTURE.

YOUR SMALL FLEET OF ORPHANS AND GHOSTS HAS BEEN YOUR ENTIRE UNIVERSE FOR NEARLY FORTY YEARS AS YOU’VE CROSSED THIS EMPTY COSMIC DESERT.

YET NOW YOU’VE COME TO A NEW UNEXPLORED AND UNMAPPED REGION OF SPACE, HIDDEN FROM VIEW BY THE NEBULAE AT THE EDGE OF THE STARLESS DESERT.

THERE IS NOW HOPE FOR A NEW BEGINNING.

THERE IS A NEW HOMEWORLD FOR YOU SOMEWHERE IN THIS UNKNOWN SPACE, READY AND WAITING FOR YOU TO CLAIM IT.

YOU COMMAND THE ORPHANED FLEET.

IT IS UP TO YOU TO GUIDE IT THROUGH THE TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS AHEAD, AND PROTECT IT FROM THOSE WISHING TO STOP YOU FROM ATTAINING WHAT IS RIGHTFULLY YOURS.

YOU WILL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO REACH YOUR PROMISED LAND.

THE SYSTEM

Promised Land is a game about an Orphaned Fleet in Unknown Space looking for a new homeworld. To get to your Promised Land, you will need to work together as a party and a fleet to explore the Unknown Space and chart the new area of space, investigate its star systems, and visit its many planets.

There are three levels of gameplay in Promised Land:

  • Charting the stars as the Commanders of the Orphaned Fleet, creating the hex-star-maps as you move through Unknown Space and procedurally creating the galaxy around you
  • Space Battles where each player commands a warship and does battle with hostile alien forces standing between the Orphans and their Promised Land; played with tokens or miniatures on a tabletop surface
  • Playing as individual characters, sent on away missions to strange alien worlds, or boarding enemy starships to wrest control from the xenos forces
Promised Land takes inspiration from classic sci-fi media such as Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, the Foundation Series, and tabletop epics like Traveller to bring you a game about being lost in the wilderness and the struggle to find a new home for your people.

Hi Allan. Which website link do you mean? There is a discord link on the third page (the credits page) right above the copyright statement.

You can play the Machine part of it solo, yes. The star-hex-crawling can be done solo if you take on all four Command Roles in the fleet; and if you want to control the alien warships, then you can solo the space combat as well.

Yes, once everything is tidied up we will release both a hard-cover version, and a printer-friendly PDF.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
