Everyday Heroes™ Quickstart Guide

I am prepping a Batman Family adventure for my friends, I tried using several other systems, but so far the ones I made using the Everyday Heroes Quickstart and the Escape from New York Preview come the closest to actually feeling like the Street Level heroes they should be. Nightwing is a Tough Scrapper from EfNY, Red Hood is a Tough Commando, Damian Wayne fits an Agile Scoundrel, and Batgirl fits a Wise Sleuth. They all almost work perfectly. Red Hood even gets guns and grenades!
I can even start to see the Joker as a Smart Mastermind, especially with the "I Lured You Into Danger" plan.

D20 Modern was a staple of play for every group I sat in with for decades. I still see it referred to when groups try to tailor a game for a specific feel - a book or film never adapted to rpg.

We've lived long enough that what was Modern no longer reflects the modern.

Everyday Heroes is designed by the people that created D20 Modern to address that.

And, look, we all love it when a good creative team focuses in on an established property investing the time and effort deserved to world-build and expand the lore and scope. I'm thinking of what Free League has done for Alien and Blade Runner, what Modiphius has done for Star Trek and Dune, what Monolith is doing with Batman: Gotham City Chronicles, and what Cubicle 7 is doing Doctor Who. Luckily, we're not done yet.

The same way D20 Modern gave us the platform we needed to adapt our favorite projects to game - I remember playing games made to be the X-Files or Millennium, the worlds of William Gibson, the Matador novels of Steve Perry, games inspired by BBC crime dramas like Prime Suspect and the Tunnel - Everyday Heroes looks to update that toolkit and enhance that specific ability.

I got to do all that because of the range of tools D20 Modern gave us.

Everyday Heroes introduces a Cinematic mode DESIGNED to take the data of D20 Modern's success and feed us more capabilit6 to create the RPG worlds we never.knew we needed until the moment we needed them. And they're going big with proof of concept. They're not just bringing us Everday Heroes they're also bringing us sourcebooks with settings, and advanced rules, and adventures called Cinematics. We're getting Cinematics for RAMBO, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, KONG: SKULL ISLAND, TOTAL RECALL, UNIVERSAL SOLDIER, HIGHLANDER, THE CROW, and PACIFIC RIM.

They've come big with promise and there has been huge investment of time and money to get it right.

This quickstart is the bones but it makes it easy to see the possibility.

These people redefined what was possible with rpg. They helped make it more just the substantial but limited worlds of Dungeons and Dragons and World of Darkness and the books of Call of Cthullhu. They helped hive us the tools to expand the world's of action and imagination open to us with pen, paper, words, and a handful of dice.

Now they're back, and they're bringing fire.

And God bless them for it.

Having playtested these rules with my group, they work. They're easy to adopt, easy to understand, easy to use.

They'll be releasing the full product soon. And then they're releasing a Cinematics every month. I'm excited in a way I haven't been excited for a system in a very long time.

And then you should join me when the new books release and we should take these tools and the dice in our hands to remake the myths and again add new complexity and diversity to the tales possible with role-playing.

I am entirely jazzed for the full version of this game. Between playtesting the game, and this quick start guide, I've been able to determine this is an extremely worthy successor to a previous Modern game during the original OGL wave. It mixes the best of that game with the currently popular rules set to great effect.
