Is there any plan for this to be made available as POD? If not, is there some place a hardcopy can be purchased? I purchased (and have) the PDF....just wondering about the printed release. Thank you!

Unfortunately it's a $100 USD with shipping not to mention the massive losses on exchange rates to USD. A POD through DriveThru would have much more affordable shipping. Amazon POD would even allow it to be sold in local currency.

I bought the hardcover KS edition of this book... Worth every penny, and more! I ran through the tables to generate an adventure plot, and what I rolled, I was able to perfectly fit into my campaign. It was amazing. I love this book!

It is one of the top three books I will recommend to any DM/GM, for any game system. It is really one of the TOP Three books I've encountered in my gaming hobby, since 1980...

Make no mistake: this book is for games which focus on role playing and storytelling. If you run hack-n-slash games, move on, nothing to see here, folks. Move along. Move along.

I've got the original pdf which I had printed and spiral bound - page numbers go up to 307. Am I gaining anything from purchasing the revised edition and printing that one out?
In fact, I have a pdf labelled "ToADfinal", and another marked "Tome_of_Adventure_Design_2nd_Printing" which is a slightly larger file. I've no idea which is the most up to date of the two.

You don't really need this version if you have an earlier version. What's added is the marginal "apophenia engine," which is a few thousand micro-prompts for creativity. Those are getting really good reviews from people, but there isn't any new content in the book other than that.

Part of it is the layout being spaced more, for readability. Most of it is the micro-prompts in the margins, which take up space because there still has to be a margin between the end of the text and the start of the margin. So there's basically a small column added to each and every page.

Seeing that this is a massive PDF to navigate, will there be hyperlinks in the contents (and across the book) that allows one to jump to a table/page with the tap of a finger on the screen or the click of a mouse?

That isn't planned at the moment. It would definitely be helpful but also very time-intensive to do. So it's possible we'll add that at some point, but not in the near future.

I have the original tome of adventure design from Frog God games. Evidently they don’t have the license anymore obviously. I’m just wondering if anyone knows the difference? The new version is about 200 more pages.
It would be great to see a reply from the publisher regarding these bookmarks. Where are you guys? How about just popping up and giving us a little “… we’ll fix it“. Unless you’ve got some kind of personal emergency for ignoring these posts or something, God for bid. If you don’t, let’s hear from you. As a matter of fact, I’m not gonna buy the PDF or the Hardcover until you post that you fixed the bookmarks.
Anyway, can anybody tell me if I need this version or do I have enough with the previous iteration.

Purchased this figuring the discussion of bad bookmarks had been resolved, as there were no new such comments, only to learn that is not the case. It's been 10 months. How are the bookmarks still a mess? Chapter 3 shows up well after Chapter 4, for instance, and the nesting is such that effectively all bookmarks are expanded or none are, rendering them a total mess for use. This occurs in both Adobe Acrobat Reader and Foxit Reader.

We are going to revisit and revise the bookmarks fairly soon now that the Kickstarter for the Swords & Wizardry rulebook is finished. We haven't started yet, so we don't have an estimate yet on when we'll release a revised PDF.

Purchased this today, spent an hour working out an adventure and decided I would definitely like a hardcover copy. I went to the mythmeregames.com site and ordered my copy! Then I realized that it came with the digital pdf. So I'm a bit bummed I paid for it here when it came with the hardcover order but I am loving this book and looking forward to fully diving in to all the chapters. I think it will be one of my favorite resources. Thanks!

A hardcover book is available on our website, but no print on demand. Our future titles will have print on demand; the issue with this one is the number of pages. Print on demand binding (which is just glued into the casing) has high failure fates for very thick books.

It would be great if this was offered as POD. The pdf is way to large to print at home and I MUCH prefer a hardcopy, finding digital books really inconvenient.

Heya Charles B, I just clicked on the publisher name, googled that, then clicked on the 'Products" link from google. Its on the second page, offered in both PDF and Hardcover, from where you can purchase your preference. Personally I would prefer if they offered UPS as well as USPS, as I live on a training route, but I am very VERY much looking forward to My new purchase.

With the cost of Ink and such where I live, this would cost me the price of the pdf, then 3x that to print the pdf. 5x if i want to put them in sheet protectors...... Is there any chance we can get another limited print run? I think i missed the kickstarter :(

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
