Purchased this today, spent an hour working out an adventure and decided I would definitely like a hardcover copy. I went to the mythmeregames.com site and ordered my copy! Then I realized that it came with the digital pdf. So I'm a bit bummed I paid for it here when it came with the hardcover order but I am loving this book and looking forward to fully diving in to all the chapters. I think it will be one of my favorite resources. Thanks!

A hardcover book is available on our website, but no print on demand. Our future titles will have print on demand; the issue with this one is the number of pages. Print on demand binding (which is just glued into the casing) has high failure fates for very thick books.

It would be great if this was offered as POD. The pdf is way to large to print at home and I MUCH prefer a hardcopy, finding digital books really inconvenient.

With the cost of Ink and such where I live, this would cost me the price of the pdf, then 3x that to print the pdf. 5x if i want to put them in sheet protectors...... Is there any chance we can get another limited print run? I think i missed the kickstarter :(

Hi, purchaser of the 1st edition book, but had no idea there was a revised edition in the works nor about the kickstarter. It looks like the time for pre-ordering hardcover is past. Will there ever be an opportunity to buy a physical copy again? I understand the concerns with POD, but are you thinking of releasing any physical copies after the kickstarter is done being fulfilled? Sorry, would have backed it if I'd known, and I'm not interested in the pdf.

Yes, if you go to our website (mythmeregames.com) and sign up for the newsletter, we'll let people know via the newsletter when the additional copies go up for sale. We're fulfilling the Kickstarter backers before doing this, but there will be plenty of extra copies for a couple of months. We're not sure how long they will last, or whether we will reprint, but there will be plenty for a while.

Hey team, just as a heads up, I found that in the Horror sub-section of Chapter Two: Monsters - Part 1: Monster Types (pg 116), it says to roll on Table 2-70 and Table 2-71 for special attacks, I think it's a typo (as these are vermin tables) and should have been Table 2-78 and Table 2-79 :)

Why 3 books? Drivethrurpg can easily do this book as a single book and the binding will hold. Onyx Path has been doing this for years with their books and a lot of them are over 600 pages.

Well, Onyx Path's books are also rather fragile. You have to be very careful with them, even if you get the premium color versions. This is my experience with Mage 20th anniversary, anyways

I always come across this stuff after the narrow Kickstarter window closes. I want a hardback copy. I don't get the concern over perfect binding, as I've perfect bound books decades old that aren't in any risk of falling apart. Maybe DriveThru RPG is just really, really bad at it? Anyway. I see no way to get a hardcover copy of this book, and there is no way in hell I'm buying a 300 page PDF. I would not have bought OSRIC had my only choice been a PDF. What a shame.

As a graphic designer with training in book production, I applaud the decision to not have a print-on-demand version of this book here. The concern stated is valid — POD’s Perfect binding (aka glue binding) is a light-duty binding for temporary and limited-use low-page count works. Eventually, the glue in all perfect-bound books will become brittle and they will begin falling apart. When it comes to perfect bound books, it’s a “when,” not an “if,” on their falling apart. Moreover, perfect binding was never intended for long-term use nor for bulky large-page-count-book-block books that put stress on their spines (like RPG books.)

So ignore the complaints. The complainants know not of what they speak. Besides, if you want a print copy, a nice smyth-sewn version is/was available directly from the publisher.

Yes perfect binding is not the ideal choice for a book of this size, but it's not as bad as you are making out and it's better than nothing at all, which is the only alternative for everyone outside the US.

Yes, it does. Having general experience with something doesn’t mean that you have the expertise to know what you’re looking at or evaluate what you’re seeing. Driving a car doesn’t mean that you know how to build one. And it sure doesn’t mean that you know how to evaluate the quality of its construction.

So I’ll say again: I have the training to know better. Stop trying to pick a fight and move on.

I just want to mention... my Warhammer FRP 4th edition is 350 pages of superior product. The binding is in no danger.
My D&D Cyclopedia hard cover print on demand is so close to the Warhammer manual, there's no point saying a 300 page print on demand binding can't be done.

If you can't produce to that quality, don't bother trying.
I dropped 70 bucks cash on my Warhammer purchase without thinking twice.
My Rules Cyclopedia print on demand colour hardcover cost me 30 bucks.

The point, this is the market. Sink or swim.
A 300 page hardcover colour print on demand book worth having is worth 30 bucks. But I'm not afraid of paying 70 bucks if I want it.

Not exactly a defense of your case. The pdf I have seen is likely not the revised one. What I've seen is 308 pages.
Nice product.
I pay for hardcovers when I like the book.
Maybe it should be a paired set part A and part B.
I'd buy it that way.
Like I said, it's a nice product.

But as a pdf, well I'm disappointed.
You're not asking much for the pdf.
But it's a lost sale.
I might as well just stick with the 308 page item and print it out as a spiral bound item.
It will be adequate. Just not what I'd like.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
