This is a collection of ten new heritages and eight cultures for Advanced 5e games. Play as a goblin, kobold, or mighty centaur--or as a construct made of glass, as an animal-headed human, or as a beast-formed shapeshifter, or more!

Includes rules for Large centaurs and colossus characters as well!

I've been looking for 3 of the 10 races from this book to add to my current campaign. I'm currently converting from 5e to A5E. I enjoy the fresh new rules combined with the old ones. (I'm a sucker for mashups.) I've been reviewing this book. Now, I have questions...

1. Is the culture called Hidden City or Hidden Citizen? I realize the intent, here, but this can be confusing.
2. Is there a Star-Rover language? If so, is there a description?
3. Is the culture called Beastfolk Enclavist or Therolian Enclavist?
4. Is there a Therolian language?

I as well need to.leave a comment here because I'm prevented from reviewing the material.
I've purchased the foundry module, which works like a charm.
Love what you did with the races and how you've handled pack tactics...someone should explain that to wotc...
My only complaint is that pdf and module are sold separately, at the same price while in fact are the same exact material, only in a different format.
I personally believe that they should come together...maybe and with a package discount the least...
That way you would also prevent piracy.

Hey Davide,

I have a little bit of insight on this, as I've been helping Jessica get the Handbook of Heritages into Foundry.

We were looking into distributing discount vouchers to purchasers of either of the products, so that people could get it in another format at a discount, like you suggested. The problem is that DTRPG doesn't allow you to distribute bulk vouchers like this until you're a "verified publisher". Until WolfWorks Press is verified, offering this sort of discount isn't possible.

As far as I know, it's also not currently possible to set up a product where you make use of the Foundry integration and also provide a PDF. I know that Jessica attempted this initially, and it simply overwrote the existing formats instead of adding the Foundry module on top. The Foundry + DTRPG integration is still very young, so maybe this will be possible in the near future.

Hope that explains why things are as they are for the time being :)

I'm leaving this as a comment because I can't leave a review.

Art and general feel:

Very nice. Little hints to the players about how you'd integrate your roleplay in with the world. All self-illustrated and laid out. Quite a strong OSR feel to the black and white illustrations which I enjoyed, the "Vitruvian Kobold" as a cover being an excellent example. :)

I am, of course, a sucker for anything green so the background layout was very pleasing to my eye.

Mechanics:

- Heritages:

Great job on reusing and reflavouring existing materials to keep the whole work within a balance but feeling fresh, e.g. the legally distinct armour of agathys is absolutely perfect as an infernal and cold-themed planetouched gift.

If I would change anything, I think I would give the paragon gifts a little bump maybe? Some of them don't feel like the joyous celebration of being level 10 that is my personal preference and style,...See more

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
