The Entombed Crown - Core Rulebook - Original Frontiers | DriveThruRPG.com

The Specialities within this Expansion are provided to demonstrate how the system may be expanded upon. The Storyteller and Players to work together to come up with additional Specialisations which enhance gameplay, Character development, or the adventure as a whole.

It is advantageous for the Storyteller to familiarise themselves with the contents of this Expansion in full. Players who wish to adopt any Specialities contained within may also read and digest the information within this Expansion.

THE BONUS DIE

Some Specialities may call for a Bonus Die to be rolled as well as the nominal requisite die. When this is called for by the Storyteller, the Player may roll both dice and select the most advantageous as their result.

As with all Original Frontier systems the Storyteller has the final decision on any matters.

The land of Es’Rua in the South of Neyarazin is known by the Formar as the Strickened Heart. It was once a seat of power for the legendary Formar King Iridon who, wishing to seal his legacy, bargained with a Spirit to sire an immortal child, one who would guard the Formar lands from the arising Diar Parlas. Unbeknown to the King, the Spirit with whom he communed was a malevolent Unseer of the Spirit Realm – Azrulir. As with all Unseers, Azrulir sought his power through the feeding on sorrow, strife, and regret. Seeing in in the aging King an abundance of goodness he hungered to feed upon Iridon’s downfall.

Azrulir took on the physical avatar of a brave warrior from afar, who arrived at a time when the King’s daughter Ygril was in mourning for her husband – who had in fact been slain by Azrulir in his guise. Azrulir fought valiantly to protect Iridon and Ygril from would-be usurpers in their hour of need, and eventually married Ygril with the King’s blessing. Azrulir taught many gifts of Magic and ritual to Ygril, poisoning her mind to believe that drinking the life force – blood – of their enemies would mitigate against the perils of using Magic continuously. Ygril’s faith in Azrulir brought this concept to be and eventually the Princess found that blood wildly fuelled her Magical expertise.

The years passed in harmony for Iridon until the day upon which he lay on his death-bed. Azrulir chose this moment to reveal his true face to Iridon with Ygril by his side, her mouth stained with the gore of her most recent feeding frenzy. As Iridon’s soul twisted in horror Azrulir placed his hands on the King, absorbing every ounce of his torment.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
