Shots pass your head as the second assassin turns his motorcycle around to pursue your dirt bike up the Spanish Steps. Close to the church, near the top, you spin the bike around in a circle and wince as half a dozen of Il Drago’s goons emerge to block off the exits, each one raising a gun ready for action. Dammit. You look around – you’re on your own...

No Day To Die is a solo roleplaying game inspired by the greatest series of spy movies ever made. A single player assumes the role of a British government secret agent and then plays out a various high-stakes spy missions in exotic locations around the world. All that is required is a notebook, a pen or pencil, a single deck of regular playing cards, and imagination.

Using an innovative scene resolution mechanic, the game does not rely on verb-noun tables or continual use of yes-no questioning. The plot builds organically to a climax, punctuated by fights, chases, romantic encounters and attempts on your life.

Fights and chases are both played out using a hand of cards from which the player chooses his moves and attacks in a dynamic, exciting and ever-changing game.

Create your agent, draw a card and embark on a globe-trotting mission to save the world. Again.

No Day To Die uses the Card Shark RPG Rules (included).

I'm really enjoying this game so far, but a quick question - is there a use for henchman and villain GRIT and WIT scores? From what I can tell, any combat is solely in relation to your agent's score as well as task resolutions. As I started playing, it seemed only their HIT points were crucial in practicality.

They are there if you need them. They may need to remember something or spot something, hold you under the water or maybe drag something ...

I find myself unclear on how task and scene resolution work, especially in light of multi-card draws:

1. > OR ≥ : Is the goal to (a) meet or beat or (b) purely exceed the difficulty with the action cards drawn? I’m guessing (a) so even difficulty 10 has a shot with a single card. (Task resolution directions say beat, scene resolution say equal or exceed.)
2. SUM OR MAX: When multiple cards are drawn to meet or beat, are (a) their values summed, or (b) is the highest value used, and the multiple draws just give you more shots at drawing a single card with sufficient value?
3. COLOR DETERMINER: Which card in a multi-draw (eg stat exceeds difficulty, so draw a second card in task resolution) is used for checking the color rules? The highest?

Hi Jeremy,
1. It is Equal or Beat.
2. They are not summed, that would skew the numbers badly very quickly; it’s always more cards, more chance to score that needed number!
3. Oh yes, it’s the highest of all your cards. It’s always the highest card we are really interested in (see point 2.)

I hope that helps. Best Regards, Paul Elliott/Zozer

I am absolutely in love with this game. I have been hooked on it as soon as I purchased it. Thank you so much! I would love to see more (Era source books? Gadget and Vehicle stats? More Tables and Charts?). But no matter what, congratulations on a job well done!

Many thanks Mark! It was a labour of love. I'm not considering expanding the game, but I am considering other genres to try the system on. I appreciate your comment! - Paul Elliott/Zozer

From a game design standpoint this game looks S++ tier.
Definitely going to buy this once I get the time to run a game.
Thanks Darian for suggesting, and thanks Paul for adjusting the preview pages!

Jason, you're going to have to spell 'S++ tier' out to me ... I don't know that acronym!! :)

Paul, it's a game ranking thing. Say you're making an argument for rankings of D&D classes: you might rank the least powerful/effective/fun at a "C," some that are slightly better at a "B," those that are strong at an "A," and the vary best at "S" tier. Of course, then if something comes along that's better than your "S" tier, you've either got to redo the whole thing or add an "S+" (or "S++") tier. TL;DR: high praise.

Sorry I've been playing a lot of Metal Gear V lately. It's like saying "Way better than an A+ grade." ;)

Thank you for explaining that. I serious saw that as an insult. I thought you were abbreviating a word that Drive Thru wouldn't let you say. :)

Could we have a full-size preview, the quick preview is far too small to see anything. Thanks.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
