Gundgathol lies in ruin. Over 250 years ago, an evil host rose from the underdark and pushed the dwarves out of their ancestral mountains. Since that time, orcs and worse have defiled their sacred halls. In recent days, the high dwarven clerics cast their runestones and read the portents: the time has come to retake Gundgathol. Are you brave (or fooloish) enough to enter Dwarrowdeep?

Dwarrowdeep will keep your players on their toes and your campaign going strong for years.

Dwarrowdeep is brought to you by the Old School Renaissance (so don’t forget your 10’ pole).

This megadungeon adventure includes an all-star cast of Ex-TSR artists including Darlene, Larry Elmore, Tim Truman, Jeff Dee, and Diesel. It features 150 unique zipitomes (art that tells a story of iconic adventurers along the bottom of the page) illustrated by Peter Pagano.

Dwarrowdeep is the single largest dwarven themed adventure in the history of role-playing games.

Note that there is no preview as the download is a folder containing the pdf as well as the poster hexmaps in Black and Old School Blue. The digital download also includes maps without numbers for use with virtual tabletops.

I purchased Barrowmaze a few years back. I have a question about Dwarrowdeep and Forbidden Caverns of Archaria: are all three mega-dungeons part of a shared game world, or are they each a stand alone? Thanks

I've had the PDF for a while, and I was very impressed with the quality of the production, especially the artwork which is top notch. But the PDF didn't fully prepare me for the imposing presence of the physical hardback book, which just arrived today. It's a real monster!

The standard of the paper and printing is excellent, and the binding seems good too (though that can be hard to judge before the book has had some wear.)

Could you add an image file of the overland map and the main hexmap for dwarrowdeep too? That would be really helpful when running this virtually!

the level of effort you put into the detail of your work is astounding - but... why they heck do your PDF's never have bookmarks?!? How am I supposed to navigate a 300 page PDF without bookmarks? I don't understand why you would put out such a huge PDF with absolutely no bookmarks. I have purchased several of your products and every time I hope that it will be bookmarked and I continue to be disappointed. The material is top notch... but c'mon.. what the heck? This is not a foreign concept.

I was introduced to RPG's a long time ago by my dad and happily ruined all his little pre first edition AD&D manuals but also put them to good use. So I am curious on what the 10' pole is referring to. I must have missed that part.
Nevermind, I just realized that you should never enter a dungeon without dragging a 10' pole along with you. Anything else would be madness

It this is a clever joke that goes over my head please apologize my idiocy. But if not, let me explain: Old School D&D like AD&D hat a lot of traps and manholes with ranges up to 10ft. So with a 10ft pole and the added length of your arm you were basically able to probe every room/corridor for traps from the books to be on the safe side, manically plunging that thing into every nook, cranny or alcove from a rules conferred safe distance. Thus, this pole became somewhat of a staple of RPG jokes.

Does anyone own the PoD version of the book. I read some reviews about Barrowmaze where it was stated that the paper quality and the binding of the book where quite shitty. Like to know what i am about to get before spending 85$ + shipping

Got mine delivered today. Bindung and paper quality are fine, maybe even a little above POD standards average in terms of robustness and paper thickness. Pretty happy with it.

What system is this intended for? With reference to TSR and Old School Renaissance, I assume 2nd edition AD&D, but would like to know before I buy.

I saw the 5E, probably going to get this under the assumption it'll work with 2nd edition.

His previous megadungeons were designed with Advanced Labyrinth Lord in mind, but they should be able to be run with any pre-3e system or clone with no problems. I ran Forbidden Caverns of Archaia OSR using Castles & Crusades with no trouble at all.

I have been running it with little change. Some monsters I need to ballpark with DCC stats to make them in line but even then it seems pretty close.

What would the crowd recommend as a system for Dwarrowdeep? I see someone has interest in running Dwarrowdeep in DCC!

Agreed. It's a lot of money, but could very well be worth it. But we need some representative pages of the content (not a copyright page or table of contents).

I get that the publisher stated above why they didn't include one initially, but James M provided details on how to accomplish it.

Previews really need to be the norm. Understand that some products may only be a page or two so an alternative of a sample paragraph or something would be fine, but in the majority of cases it should be expected.

Agreed. I'm willing to pay that much for a good PDF product, but I've bought a lot of PDFs over the years that turned out to be subpar once I got a good look at them.

Wanting to see a couple of pages in order to get an idea of the quality of the product isn't foolish or "contributing nothing to the discussion". It's a very sensible decision.

I wish there was a dcc version but I guess One I have the cash I could easily turn 5e into dcc the conversion is quite easy most abilities are 1to1 for monsters and cr+3 is hit dice and stats can easily be adjusted into the dcc progression and the tables they hand out for the rest make it easy

Do the monsters have ascending AC included in their stat blocks or only descending AC?

Usually if you need ascending AC, all you have to do is to subtract descending AC from 19.

Having run Barrowmaze for my 5e game up to 7th level, I find that it didn't take too much effort to convert to 5e [I run on Roll20]. I look forward to running Dwarrowdeep. Like one of the other reviewers mentioned, I really enjoy how the overland map around the Free City of Threshold is filling out! [Barrowmaze, Forbidden Caverns, High Fell]

Greg, keep up the great work!

No bookmark in the PDF. That makes the navigation... complicated. Any update planned? Seeing the price of the product (35$...) we should have this type of tool, especially since the other products of M. Gillespie DOES have signets.

Otherwise, very cool megadungeon!

I agree! All of Greg's books would benefit greatly from having bookmarks to help us hop back in forth in the contents.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
