(NOTE: If you already have Pew Pew! Bounty Hunters in Space or Pew Pew! For a Few Credits More - this is the same game system with a new adventure, some new enemies and some new pregens. Having said that - some of the enemies and pregens from earlier releases do appear here as well.)

Pew Pew! A Complicated Profession is a one-shot tabletop RPG for up to seven players (and one GM).  It uses the same system (lightly modified) from Havoc Brigade by Grant Howitt. Many thanks to Grant for graciously agreeing to let us do that. (If you haven't played Havoc Brigade - please check it out.)

It's a rules-light roleplaying game, with everything you need to play (aside from dice and friends).

It's light-hearted and intended for one shots; this isn't a story about deep-seated emotional turmoil and tortured introspection.

It's also great for new gamers, or playing online, because it's easy to pick up and quick to play.

It's a game about explosions and loads of big fights and ray guns and, maybe, maybe laser swords.  It's an excellent game to run at conventions or as an emergency pick-up game, because all the prep is already done – it's baked into the system.

This is a game designed to tell one particular story: a rough and tumble bounty hunter squad tracking down a target in a sci-fi fantasy western setting.

Pew Pew! is built for speed. So all the characters are all pre-generated, so the GM should hand them out at the start of the session and the players can pick which ones they like. BUT - it's a simple system - so chargen is pretty easy. A blank character sheet is included.

I brought this PDF and found the rules are more clearer here than the other two booklets, and i liked the FAQ page, even has a suggestion from a beta player. Would like to see more of that.

I have a question about combat from page 37, under 'Whats in the GM dice pool'..

"add the dice for all the enemy equipment"

Ok, taking for example The Scurrying Scavs their equip is: Black Market Bionics, Jury-rigged blasters, swarm tactics. (I wouldnt say Swarm tactics is equipment? it would better fit in Short Summary or have an ability heading??) ok so lets say all 3 equipment as listed. Their morale is 5, which also is the number size of group. So when it says for the GM to add dice for ALL the equipment, do we literally add 3 dice x 5 group size = 15 dice. Logic would say this too much, but for new players and even to the ttrpg scene might be confused with this.

I think it says somewhere that you are attacking the leader/morale of the group. So then...See more

There used to be. In fact, we have printed and sold 144 print copies of this book. Despite this, unfortunately, Lightning Source has now decided that the book is unprintable.
I have contacted publisher relations for details.

Yeah, I have to ask a similar question to Reid. How is this book different from Bounty Hunters in Space and For a Few Credits More? I own both. The description is so vague I could imagine this is but a combining of the last two products.

Tell me its not and I will pick it up with my next paycheck. I love the last two books in this series. I hope you keep swinging them out.

Thanks in advance for your response.

hey Reid - I just posted this note on the top of the product page. In addition, this also contains a new rule or two and a FAQ for the rules.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
