Edge-Studio now has an V.1.0 Errata for Adventures in Rokugan on their website under resources, that is about 7 pages long. It covers many things for the physical copy and a few new things that this current PDF does not have. The Errata V.1.0 does have some typos and double entries, hopefully they will update that soon. When will this DrivethruRPG PDF be updated, as of Sept 15th 2022? Some of the maps still are missing the family territory land titles etc.

I'm reading through the book and I've found that Artisan is missing both it's 13th and 20th level subclass features. The hardcover is missing the 3rd level feature, as well, but I downloaded the pdf and the errata has Channeling in it, so that's good.

However, the pdf with the errata in it still is missing those subclass features. I can't find anything about this on drivethrurpg, and i didn't see any posts here about it. Anyone know if Edge intends to fix this? I feel like the upgrade to Mystic Arsenal isn't really worthy of being presumed to be the 20th level feature.

Anyone got any ideas on this? or links to confirmation from Edge about it?

I agree. I have been waiting for Edge studio to update Adventures in Rokugan as of Sep 15th 2022. I have been trying to communicate to them via Edge Facebook page and email but don’t get any real answers. I keep asking for separate errata (printable) for the hard cover, or possible updated 2nd printing info, also ETA on update errata for PDF.

I think they may have abandoned this, but Edge Studio came out with the Game master’s screen! I am very confused. Are they still selling Erroneous copies of the hard cover book? I prefer a updated hardcover at the gaming table than having to look up all the corrections on a pdf.

Last thing Edge studio said to me on Facebook was "We are working on creating an errata PDF. It will be available for free download when it is finalized." This was Monday, October 17th 2022 after the last update here on DrivethruRPG as of Sept 15Th 2022.

20th level feature is there under 5th level feature. From what I can see 13th is missing.

Seems like a poor way to put the 20th level feature in. Also, if that's the 20th level feature, it's kind of weak for a capstone. i mean, sure, that's a lot of magic item slots, but almost too many? Also, I feel like it should still be listed separately. It's very unusual to just sneak it into another feature.

So was it me or does part of me kinda want an "areas outside of Rokugan" supplement...mostly just imagined RPing as a low-ranking government official (scribe, attorney, and law student) from Fantasy China (or Rokugan equivalent).
That or I should just wait for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay to come out with Cathay expansion since that system tends to accommodate "quirky mundane" characters.

Are there any plans for additional AiR materials?

I certainly second this. You can grab lore from the L5R materials but there are many good mechanical innovations in this book and it would be a shame to see a one and done on such a an interesting work

Looks like the PDF has been updated as of Sept 15th, which is awesome! but there are still some errors in it, and have no doubt that they have been noticed already, and are being addressed. Like the Focus Points description section added to Duelist reads as Bushi, should read as Duelist Pg58. Shinobi Ninja tools. Inflammatory Powder Range says 15-foot-wave but diagram shows 20-foot? pg85. Ritualist Favor Section, Somewhat of a double sentence found under the Focus description "invocations reflect a bond" aid you & assist you Pg90. Pilgrim "The forms of Enlightenment" on Earth & Fire at end of turn energy step towards "Yin Rising?" Does not reflect diagram. Should read as Yin Flowing? Pg 102 etc. I hope they continue fixing this because it’s a great campaign setting & system.

Early into reading it. But I do have a major question for the Bush archetypes. So, the class says a 3rd level you choose Protector or Vanguard. Yet leaves the Samurai Armsmaster dangling. Then has me questioning myself, do you automatically get Samurai Armsmaster and then choose Protector or Vanguard on top of that. Or are the selections Samurai Armsmaster, Protector and Vanguard. It makes since that each are just separate Archetypes, but then again its leaves it vague like you only have two choices in the core book. Plus, the Samurai Armsmaster when comparing to Protector and Vanguard seems a little underwhelming and doesn't have a "Stance" like most other Archetypes in the book.

Just interested in everyone else thoughts that have read that section.

The book has some typos that we’ll likely see corrected when the errata comes out. I currently read it as there’s 3 archetypes, not two.

Protector & vanguard gets an additional martial stance, but armsmaster has more weapon proficiencies, can wear heavier armor, has a higher crit percentage and does superior unarmed damage.

Your assessment was what I felt as well. It initially writes it as there are two archetypes to choose from. But then when I got to that section, I saw three. Then as I started reading it over and over there's those you can sometimes start doubting yourself. I appreciate your input. It helped come to a better conclusion. I do feel the Armsmaster feels more of an underwhelming archetype compared to Protector and Vanguard. That was another reason for my wondering.

I encounter these wordings on my copy of AIR. on some of Acolyte class features,

Body and Mind

You deepen your connection to the strength and wis-dom of your past lives through martial arts training, helping to unify your current physical self with your recurring soul. When you use the Attack action, you can make one unarmed strike as a bonus action. Addi-tionally, you use a d4 for your unarmed strike, and you gain proficiency in Strength saving throws.

Could EDGE Studio team and someone help me, do we still add the PC Strength Modifier on the D4 unarmed strike damage or not, folks?

The same as the Tiger Tattoo from the same Acolyte of Togashi class and subclass,

Tiger Tattoo. On your turn, you can use a bonus action and this tattoo to change your unarmed attack damage to 2d4 slashing damage until the end of your turn. Embellishment: Increase the damage to 2d4 + 2 slashing damage.

Do we still add...See more

I would assume that you use your strength for your unarmed attack & damage bonus for the acolyte of togashi given that is the default unarmed modifier for dnd 5e.

That could be changed by taking a feat like graceful combatant ( uses dexterity for unarmed), disruptive strikes ( wisdom for unarmed), or multi classing into pilgrim (which uses constitution for their unarmed modifier).

Hey there! I would advise waiting until you get confirmation that it has been errated. I've really enjoyed the book, but it's a mess right now. Several classes are missing rules or have inaccurate information on the charts vs text.

Personally, I think this is the best version of Rokugan yet.

Pages 10 & 11 give guidelines on how to run an Asian-inspired game with a focus on reducing harm. It addresses the deeply problematic origins of many stereotypes, and pushes the game towards a more inclusive version of the setting. Rather than rely on the meme-fuel "Honor!" for everything, it uses more nuanced terms like "devotion", "accountability", and "faithful friendship". It removes poorly structured, Japanese-sounding gibberish from places names. It removes the names of real life deities from their fictional religion. It avoids presenting monolithic culture, and relies instead on diverse depictions of stories rooted in humanity. Legend of the Five Rings was written in the 1990's by a white, American audience for a white, American audience. It has been 30 years since then and gaming has changed substantially. It is good for Rokugan to reflect a more inclusive present and be less reliant on...See more

I will add one dislike onto this - the included adventure is probably one of the roughest introductions to Rokugan I have seen. I think the module they had at GenCon, "Festival of One Million Blossoms", would have been a much better introductory module to include.

Good to hear! I didn't even know this was a thing, and L5R is a very different sort of game than D&D 5e so I'm very skeptical that this would work well mechanically. I'm glad there's at least some cultural sensitivity in the approach they've taken to it.

I remember 3E, but people seems to think that Rokugan as a setting doesn't work for DND-style game (there was 3E OA but what I was talking is campaign setting).
That or "system that penalize touching dead body no matter the reason" doesn't work with DnD that often encourage this.

Wow, even RPG.net is not amused by the changes and that's something.

As far as i can tell, that is not L5R anymore.
I was really looking forward to this. Now my D&D 5E hopes rest on Kamon (have a look on Kickstarter).

Not sure if I missed it, but how do Duelists gain focus points before learning a stance? They don't have a written entry for the "Focus Point" ability the way the Bushi does, unless I've missed something.

Okay, so it looks like the rules for Duelist Focus points are the same as the rules for the Bushi, per page 222, but this is something that needs to be added underneath the class features. In addition, I've noticed some other editorial issues with the Pilgrim, the Ritualist, and the helmet picture at the start of the equipment section. I'm holding off on writing a review for now, in hopes that the updated PDF will be released by weeks end.

No need for a POD version at this time, as the printed book is available through hobby retailers, both online and brick-and-mortar. MSRP for about $50, but is often discounted down to about $40 currently at many retailers.

Honestly, I liked the Asian influenced names of the towns/cities as well as the Fortunes (and their names) which were cut out. Also disappointed in that there wasn't some sort of conversion or suggestions for monsters from the prior released 5e books (even if only SRD, I believe goblins are in those rules). Solid on the martial aspects, but need to reread through the magic part again a bit more to get the hang of it.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
