Death Station

A free Christmas present for all Travellers!

Death Station is a remastering of a classic Traveller adventure, reimagined by Seth Skorkowsky.

High above a backwater world, the laboratory ship Calendula has gone silent. Believing it nothing more than a downed transmitter, the Travellers are sent to investigate. Inside they discover a grisly scene of corporate espionage, illegal medical experiments, betrayal, and murder. Worse yet, they are not alone. The only thing worse than the Calendula’s dead are the Calendula’s living… and they are hungry.

Death Station is the perfect introductory adventure for Traveller and, best of all, it is free to download!

I ran the original version last year. One character was a scientist who got a lab ship as a mustering out benefit. I decided the corporation that he worked for was tidying things up to be sold to a megacorp and offered him the ship if he (and a team he put together) dealt with whatever caused it to go dark and return the results.

Nice thing is that you can use this adventure ANYWHERE. Its a ship, after all.

On page 6 it says "The deck plan symbols chart shows the various combinations possible" talking about the Iris-valves.
I just wanted to tell you that the "symbols chart" I think they're talking about is in the Core Rulebook on page 189, it is not in this module.
The hexagons with a circle means floor Iris-valve. The black crosses are wall iris-valves.

This was a good read through, I think it is simple and you could throw it at the new gm to use as an early scenario or bulk it however you like and add your own spin. NB yet to run it for the group.

I realize this is a free adventure (and a great update, at that), but I'm still having some issues with the cartography:
1) There is a lift shaft connecting the reception area (32) up the central docking arm "the spoke", to a ring, where the pinnace is docked. This is the most likely entry point for the PCs to enter the ship. However, there is no lift shaft in 32 (just a ceiling hatch and a bathroom). The spoke map is hard to visualize. I'm guessing the large area of the spoke forms a ring that is a deck high, and serves as a cargo area for the ship. There is a hatch in the "ceiling" with lines up with the pinnace's hatch. Where does the lift shaft connect up to this ring? Also, the spoke is so long, that if it's in a ring shape, it's wider than a 6 meter diameter. Sorry, but a simple diagram showing the connections would be great to help visualize how it all connects together, especially since the PCs will either enter, or attempt to leave the station by this access point....See more

The latest update has the cross section diagram for the fuel tanks, also corrected hatches for the Drive Pods. Like you I'm still not sure on the exact relationship between the hatch(es) in the Spoke and those in area 32.
I would like to say thanks to the staff at Mongoose for responding and updating this free pdf. (Page #19 is still causing my printer to crash tho' :( )

Is it my imagination or is the door to Room 33's fresher missing? Did you trap your Sim in there? :P

Regardless, thank you for the excellent adventure.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
