Monsters both fiendish and friendly

The 530-page Monstrous Menagerie provides nearly 600 monsters, variants, monster templates, and hordes for your Level Up: Advanced 5th Edition game. Populate your game world with classic monsters ranging from the lowly stirge to the terrifying tarrasque, along with new horrors like the khalkos and the phase monster. Challenge even the mightiest adventurers with elite monsters like great wyrm dragons and the Medusa Queen. Use simple templates to create new monsters like zombie sea serpents and merfolk alchemists. Overwhelm opposition with stat blocks representing hordes of guards, skeletons, or demons.

Old favorites, updated!

This book takes the core 5E monster book and revises every monster with new math, more actions, new variants, and greater depth. Even seasoned players will be surprised by their foes' new tricks!

Along with each monster’s game statistics, you’ll find monster behavior and adventure hooks, treasure, monster names, and more. Robust new math from Paul Hughes ensures that every monster is worthy of its Challenge Rating. Useful tables and tools for each entry help you run a complete monster encounter.

Plus new monsters!

In addition, the Monstrous Menagerie contains gem and essence dragons, great wyrms, the all-new khalkoi, and more! Over 70 dragon statblocks alone!

Essential tools!

The Monstrous Menagerie also includes robust rules for designing challenging encounters and even building new monsters from scratch.

Hi can this be made available on roll20 please? Its way too much work to copy stuff over I just dont have time. I barely use this as a result which is a big shame. Im not moving to Founry I have too much invested in roll 20 and they are FINALLY upgrading their platform to be bareable to use again. I only see a few en publishing products on roll20. Can you please add more so we can buy them. Are there any plans to add the monstrous menagerie at least?

Are there any plans of making this into a roll20 product? This looks great, but I'm too lazy as a DM to start modifying all my monster stat blocks on roll20

Brilliant!
Just read your blog of holding Monsters of the Multiverse post which is why I bought this book.
Where did you say those tokens were being held?

Hi Badger -- I'm guessing that you mean VTT tokens for the monsters? We have them for free over on the official Level Up site, www.levelup5e.com on the Resources page.

Personal Pet Peeve here. I really wish they did not lump together were creatures with the term Lycanthrope. Lycan means Wolf. Calling a werebear a Lycanthrope hurts my brain. They're better termed Therianthrope or breaking them down by correct term (Ursathrope for a werebear for example). Lumping them all together as Lycanthropes is a truly lazy but-it's-always-been-this-way act of ignorance. While this doesn't take away from the book, this is a pet peeve I can't just stay quiet about.

There are no orcs in this monster manual. I just took the plunge and bought all three books on pdf and noticed there are no orcs at in the book unless I am missing them somewhere. Are they omitted because they are a playable race in the AG?

NPC orcs use NPC stat blocks found towards the end of the book; so do elves, dwarves, etc.

They have Ogres instead of Orcs, since Orcs are a playable race.

There are currently free VTT tokens for every monster in the book over on the official website. We're working on compendiums, but that will take us months to do.

Fantasy Grounds has both the Adventurer's Guide and the Monster Menagerie for sale on their site. Foundry (another VTT) has a beta version of the game on their site as well.

Yep, we now have a Roll20 character sheet and an adventure, and a Foundry sheet; and Smiteworks has the rules for Fantasy Grounds.

Would it be bundled with the PDF at a discount later this year? Or will it be a separate purchase?

It won't be available here at DTRPG, if that's what you mean. It's an offset print run, not print-on-demand. So it won't be part of any bundle on here. We're not *really* supposed - as publishers - to talk about things we're selling elsewhere here on DTRPG though!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
