Saoirse's Crafting Field Guide

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Saoirse’s Crafting Field Guide presents a rewarding pair of crafting systems and a fantasy-generic set of crafting reagents for use in your 5th Edition game. It provides GMs and players the power to expand crafting in their gaming world to vast limits. It is designed to be “future-proofed,” and will work with all 5th Edition materials currently published and those which may be published later.

The field guide achieves this by introducing both herbs and creature parts with varying levels of strengths (Weak, Moderate, Strong, and Very Strong), provides two different crafting systems based on your risk tolerance for “complications” that can occur, introduces multiple ways to acquire reagents, upgrades kits and tools into 1st class citizens, superior creature parts that require extra challenges to acquire, buying/selling reagents, simultaneous crafting projects, developing your own craft recipes for ANY item, and more!

Inside the 82 PAGES of the field guide, you'll find:

  • Crafting recipes for EVERY standard magic item
  • Recipe creation rules for ANY 5th edition magic item you can dream up
  • Two Crafting Systems to choose from
  •  Over 100 New Items
  •  56 Unique Herbs
  •  Legendary Potions
  •  Planar Potions
  •  Crafting “Toolbelt” Character Sheet

A percentage of all profits will be donated to the World Wide Fund for Nature

I really like the 6DC system for crafting. Is that your own creation or is it based on something else?

Thank you so much for the question!

The 6DC system is my own creation! It came about from thinking about how there is no real risk in many crafting systems; either you have the gold/resources/whatever to craft a thing, or you don't. In systems where there is some risk (like a loss of reagents or similar), you may not have a lot of control or choice in the risk present, and I feel games should be a series of interesting choices that *you*, the player, makes.

With that in mind, I tried to come up with something that would give them a way to risk a resource as part of the crafting process with a kind of mini-game. Enter 6DC and dice as your crafting resource pool. Now the players get to feel like they've got more control, choice, and crafting isn't another gold-sink :)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
