World of Darkness: Ghost Hunters

Selected Option:

The abandoned lover, waiting for her paramour to return, only to die, alone. Now she waits in her house forever.

The murdered family, killed in a spree so violent their spirits couldn’t pass on to the hereafter, now wreaking an untampered revenge on anyone they find.

The serial killer, who never made his tally complete in life, now determined to possess the bodies of the living to continue his gruesome campaign.

These ghosts, and more, haunt our world. They watch us, they torment us, they play with us, they find themselves locked in Sisyphean cycles, where the only respite comes through the haunting of the living.

It is our role to hunt these spirits down. Some believe we’re laying them to a deserved rest. Others hunt for the renown and to put down the homicidal dead. Others believe they’re doing God’s work, or with every hunt, their knowledge of the paranormal world increases.

We are ghost hunters, and regardless of our motives, it is our task to ensure the dead may no longer torture the living.

Ghost Hunters includes:

  • A broad, deep history of ghost hunter cells, and catalogue of weapons and artifacts ghost hunters might use in the World of Darkness.
  • Playable options among the hunters that fight with bullets and blades, and those who fight with belief and supernatural power. Alongside them, those hunters who would track, cage, and study the dead.
  • A wide array of story hooks and rich storytelling advice for those who wish to run a game of Ghost Hunters set alongside any of the World of Darkness games.
  • An appendix containing a selection of antagonists your ghost hunters may come to face.

Haunting ShadowsHaunting Shadows: The Wraith: The Oblivion 20th Anniversary Anthology

Remember those nice stories they told you about what’d happen after you died?

They were wrong.

There is no Heaven and there is no Hell. There’s only the Underworld, with the ravening maw of Oblivion at the bottom and the impossible dream of Transcendence at the top. And, somewhere in between, are scores of Restless Dead.

Are you ready to join them?

This collection of stories is inspired by Wraith: the Oblivion 20th Anniversary Edition.

You’ll explore the Underworld, roam the streets of Stygia, the eternal city, visit a haunted museum, and walk new and exciting locales. This anthology includes tales by classic and new Wraith authors such as Richard Lee Byers, Jackie Cassada, Rich Dansky, Monica Valentinelli, Catherine Lundoff, Joe Nassise, and more!

Looking at the character sheet I'm assuming that there's a typo with Perception the Talent actually being meant to be Persuasion?

I'd wonder if this could cross over at all with Mage, and at least one team of Hunters are actually Sons of Ether running around with unlicensed nuclear particle accelerators on their backs... :-)

I bet you could. I mean, iffen I can shoehorn Ghostbusters into *In Nomine* of all systems, WoD should be easy.

Wait, you shoehorned Ghostbusters into "In Nomine?" HOW? I know, there's a book with very specific rules for ghosts, but the slightly confusing (for players) nature of working with the non-celestial systems in "In Nomine" is one of the reasons I have never gotten to run it. The collection grows, but no one plays...

Ari S,

Sorry, I never saw this reply! I statted them up as Class 5 Servants with 20 extra character points, used Liber Umbra for the ghost lore, used Corporeal Player's Handbook for alchemical rituals, and created a custom Advantage to allow creation of alchemical items w/o Symphonic awareness.

They were posted to the In Nomine-L email list for a Halloween Challenge years ago and resurrected for this year's #CharacterCreationChallenge. I posted them here:

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
