"Never meet forgotten heroes!"

A free OSR adventure module for character levels 5-7
Designed for use with the Old-School Essentials ruleset, compatible with most old-school pen-and-paper RPGs.

The Sepulchre of Seven - Sample

Long ago a half-elf, half deer-centaur named Jayne led a small guerilla band against the armies of an evil fae witch.
They prevailed at terrible cost.

Over centuries, the Church erased all memory of Jayne’s fae nature.
Monsters moved into her hideout-turned-sepulchre, still haunted by Jayne’s enemies and companions, and a ghost longing to complete his vengeance...

In this 39-room dungeon, adventurers will discover the fates and true faces of Jayne and her unremembered companions.
Will they get out with forgotten riches, or become the latest victims of a centuries-old tragedy?

The product includes: a fully-linked interactive PDF + player-friendly VTT maps.

This may be a stupid question, but what is the difference between the v1.3 and v1.5 files?

Per the email this morning:

fixed a ton of typos

removed problematic words and references. Thanks to the "Between Two Cairns" podcast for pointing them out!

cleaned up many area entries: no content change, but hopefully they will be a bit smoother to run.

So v1.5 is the fixed one and v1.3 is the old one? Why retain a file that has been superseded? I also notice that my original download had both a v1.3 and v.1.5 which would imply to me that 1.5 existed prior to these new fixes.

Hey! There should be only 2 files (v1.5 and maps), unless you already have downloaded the older version (in the dtrpg app), then it would only disappear when you manually delete it. Or there may be a bug, which is something I've sometimes experienced with other titles.
At any rate, only v1.5 should be available for download (and the maps, of course).
The changes are those listed by Brian above: nothing major in terms of content, but hopefully a better overall form!

You're welcome! I've reached out to the DTRPG support, it's not exactly a bug, it happened because I uploaded the new file before deleting the older version. They should fix it soon (for you and anyone else impacted) to only keep the most up-to-date version online.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

It's not something I had considered. I'd have to think about it.
Feel free to send me an email (contact is in the pdf), I'll get back to you -maybe not very quickly though :)

Thank you!

There is currently no plan to make it available as POD (here) on DTRPG.

The adventure is just GREAT, but I've encountered the same problem as other old school adventures that have "VTT dedicated maps": the proportions of the map don't fit with the grid scale, and the book doesn't feature optimal sizes for setting the maps on vtts such as Roll20. Can someone share with me how they fixed the issue and, possibly, what proportions did you use to fit the maps in vtts such as Roll20?

Thanks for bringing this up to my attention. The maps work perfectly with the VTT i'm using (lets-role), but I just spent the best part of an hour trying to resize/align the grid in roll20 (which I hadn't used in quite some time). The squares are 70x70, it should be fine, maybe require some alignment, but... I can't figure out what's going on there... Either I'm missing something in role20 or the pictures need to be adjusted. I'll try to look into it quickly and will update the files if necessary.

In the meantime, please let me know if you find out what's wrong.

The map files have been updated (the grid is now properly aligned with the edges of the pictures). This should solve your problem. Please let me know if it doesn't.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
