The Chocolate Factory

Have you seen the “Yellow Ticket”? Winners of this fabulous chocolatey prize are being given a grand tour of the world-famous Monka Chocolate Factory. For years the confectionary secrets have been kept behind the locked gates of this mysterious building. The factory itself is isolated, on a lonely block of land on the outskirts of town. Rumors abound about the wealthy eccentric owner, some say she holds children captive to work the machines, others say the machines run themselves.

A one-shot convention style Call of Cthulhu Adventure for 2 to 6 players.

This module was written by my good friend Pete “Shotgun” Shanahan. You can follow his stuff over at facebook.com/ShoggothPeteGames and find this module available for download on DriveThruRPG. Much like my own adventure, The Chocolate Factory is inspired by a wonderfully creepy film and novel. I am almost certain you can guess which one, knowing the main antagonist is going to be famous chocolatier “Molly Monka!” What you will not guess is just how this brilliant module twists a class we are all familiar with into something insanely eldritch and worthy of the Call of Cthulhu Mythos. A brilliant read, whether you plan to play it or not.

There is an excellent take away lesson from this module for content creators of all kinds and that message is that using a well-known source for inspiration is perfectly acceptable. This is exceptionally true if you are going to give it such a unique and interesting twist. Taking the fun parts from the source and finding ways to add new meaning can be a really...See more

You call the Lovecraft story that inspired the scenario "The Beyond" rather than "From Beyond". You might consider using the version of the story on the H.P. Lovecraft archive as that site offers more useful links related to the story (and is hopefully a long-term stable source) - https://hplovecraft.com/writings/texts/fiction/fb.aspx

Thanks for posting the extended preview.

Thanks for the suggestion, I've corrected it to "From Beyond", and amended the link.

Thanks, I've done this on purpose. If someone doesn't have the money to pay now, I'm happy for them to play now and pay later.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
