One Shots: American Dreams

Suggested Price $15.00

A collection of three one-shot scenarios for Unknown Armies intended for new players and GMs, American Dreams casts the PCs as three different cabals using dangerous magickal shortcuts to improve their lives.

  • A small-town group of nerds has to save a young agrimancer from being sacrificed by his father... and find a way to stop the bloom of green slime slowly poisoning their lakeside community.
  • Four avatars of the firebrand and swamp Maoists are preparing to start an American revolution in the backwaters of Okefenokee. Together, they'll help the vanguard of the revolution ascend to the statosphere... if they don't tear each other apart first.
  • Detroit is your city. Your cabal would do anything for her, and you're dedicated to bringing her back to her former glory the only way you know how: magick. With a little time and a lot of sacrifice, your cabal of car or city adepts can make a Detroit that works for her people instead of for the fat cats... if you can get your rivals out of the way.

One Shots: American Dreams features:

  • 3 complete single-session scenarios designed to be run in 3-5 hours.
  • 4 pregenerated characters for each scenario, including 2 different choices of rival cabal for Motown Showdown.
  • Advice on running Unknown Armies & explaining its rules to first-time players.
  • Advice on challenging content and safety tools.
  • Contains print-and-play plain-text booklets for con use.
  • Requires only Book 1: Play to use, though Book 2: Run and Book 5: Mine contain additional useful content.

Please be advised that One Shots: American Dreams contains challenging content, and potential GMs and players are strongly encouraged to use content warnings and safety tools when running these scenarios.

First of all, thanks for everyone that bought the anthology during the fund drive for Hood to the Holler. You raised over $100!

Second, 33.3 reviewed my title as part of a match-up between "American Dreams" and Stolze's Atlas-published "Bring Me the Head of the Comte de Saint-Germain." Who comes out on top? Check out their review to find out!

Rule System(s)
Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
