Ready your megawatt beam rifle, fire up your plasma-sword, and prepare to launch off into your own mecha-sized adventures! Mechasys is a Genesys supplement that empowers players to create fantastic, towering robots for use in their campaigns. The mecha construction system parallels that of Genesys character creation. Mecha characteristics, equipment, and talent-like upgrades create a mecha of your own unique design.

This 54-page supplement includes:

  • A complete process for designing and building mechanized robotic vehicles.

  • Twelve mecha chassis, forty-eight mecha-sized weapons, and thirty-five unique upgrades to customize and personalize your mecha design.

  • Five new player character archetypes to create your mecha pilots.

  • Seven new mecha operator careers.

  • Six new skills, including Mecha Operation.

  • Twenty-five new talents.

  • Five example mecha, with additional stat blocks for use as adversaries.

  • “Session Zero“ guidelines and recommendations to create your own mecha-themed campaigns.

  • New rules for mecha combat, including a mecha Critical Hit table.

Check out our custom weapon creation rules with Mechasys: Big Guns and Blazing Swords.

Does this provide any sample antagonists that utilize the new mecha rules, or even just some tools for quickly creating mecha foes?

Yes, it features an example PC performing a step-by-step building process.
There are also a few examples of finished mecha that could be used as adversaries.

Since the preview didn't seem to answer this; does this provide options for transforming mecha, such as veritechs from Robotech, or gestalt mecha such as Voltron or Power Rangers zords?

Also interested in the previously mentioned battle armor supplement, is that still in progress?

Hi Thomas,

The current Mechasys rules do include an Upgrade for transforming mecha.

Now that we've published our new product, Anarchy in Dragon City, we are returning to Mechasys to work on combiners, power armor, and sentient mecha.

I’m looking for a system to run a Xenogears campaign (fantasy setting with excavated gundams) that will also involve some of the Xenosaga games as well (setting where aforementioned gundams originally came from). I came across this and was wondering how well it would work for such a game. The fact this system is middle ground in mechanical complexity is appealing… and of course I LOVE the Genesys system!

Hi Christopher,

Xenogears...now that's a name I have not heard in some time...

Mechasys can absolutely handle the Xenogears setting! There are rules in Mechasys for additional character options and talents, and the mecha construction system is perfect for building the various mecha in that setting.

Thinking of what I (GM Phil) remember about that setting, I think the Gears would be Silhouette 4.

Let us know how it goes!

Hey, this came strongly recommended to me, and I was wondering how well this might work with smaller mechs/battlesuits? Something more like Hulk buster armor or the Apu's from Matrix movies?<br /><br />
Thanks in advance

Hi Zachary,

Mechasys currently works better with mecha of car or truck size or larger, either realistic (Battletech) or anime style (Gundam/Macross). We're currently working on a power armor supplement for Mechasys. It's being designed to address the delicate balance between fighting opponents in both personal and vehicle scales. Battlesuits are probably a few months before they're ready for publication, but we're hoping to start playtesting the mechanics very soon.

It's been a year, did this get canned or still working out the details?

I'm really excited to give these rules a whirl. Any plans of a PoD version at some point?

Hi Gabriel, we hope you enjoy playing Mechasys.

Unfortunately, the Foundry agreement does not permit Print on Demand at this time.

On page 43 under the Zero G rules it says to add a triumph to all skill checks while in zero g. Is that correct? It later reads ignore the skill penalty if equipped with vacuum sealed.

Hi Jason,
Thanks for pointing that out. It's supposed to be 2 setback dice. We've fixed that in the most recent file.

I love this supplement! I’m planning a grim dark space campaign and will be utilizing this. <br />
Found another typo or lack of type in this case. <br />
Pg 45 under crews and co-pilots. Under the Npc crew. <br />
“Assist maneuver and granting the pilot on an appropriate skill check.”
Pg 46 On Your Six appears to be missing some symbols as well.
“ —- may be added to the check depending on the size and scope”
“And warships could add as much as — to the check”

Thanks again for pointing out the lack of a Boost die. We've updated the document.

I know a lot of people were waiting for a mech supplement. This was definitely worth that wait. If your setting involves mecha at all, this title is a must-have.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
