Giallo: The Sisters of the Seven Sins

The third in our Giallo mini series, Sisters of the Seven Sins provides an Italian-style pulp adventure centred around a band of nuns who are not, quite, what they seem.

System agnostic, but presented for Actual F*cking Monsters.

To be honest the three "giallo" scenarios are vile, and this one in particular. Misogynistic as well as apologetic for the Salazar dictatorship. Ribeiro doesn't understand the horror he seeks to emulate, and is more obsessed with slagging "woke" people and "social justice warriors" in editorials, to justify the number of rapes in his scenarios. And boy are there many of these. If you are to believe the author they are so importanto to the genre that anyone who doesn't appreciate them are part of "cancel culture". Ribeiro doesn't even understand the difference between Italian Horror as a whole, and Giallo as a specific genre. He is not alone in this, but if you want to create a pastiche you need to understand what you're copying. The graphical style alone should give you a hint as the illustrations have nothing in common with Italian horror, but seem lifted from the pages of Tales From the Crypt.

More of a side note, but Ribeiro manages to describe the Salazar...See more

We're committed to free expression here at Postmortem Studios, and to horror being horrifying. Miguel's work displays a greater understanding of the genre than I see here. It's trashy, vulgar and derivative - which are the strengths of the genre, and the point. If you want Scooby Doo, you can find that elsewhere - like Ravenloft.

I would like to thank you for taking to time to write this comment on my faults as a horror scenario writer. I can't say that this was a rather constructive review, nor that it will help me improve anything about my style, but I will try to address your points. That the three scenarios are "vile" and "misogynistic" is entirely a matter of opinion, to which you are, of course, entitled to, but as the genre they (partly) try to emulate is now considered, well... vile and misogynistic... I think that was a compliment. I may have, after all, understood the concept of giallo. As for the rapes, they are, as everything on my scenarios, entirely optional. That is how they were designed, there are no predetermined events.
I do not consider myself an expert on that particular subgenre, though I have watched my fair share of Italian thrillers, giallo and not giallo. I daresay I am a horror connoisseur, but I'm quite certain some could disagree with that too. I would like to point out there are a...See more

Misogynistic behavior is one of the main tropes of the Giallo genre. So I really don't understand what you were expecting buddy.
I have already played the first two scenarios - Orpheum's loft its a great one shot Giallo sessions - Have played at least 5 variations of them, and is in my opinion the most faithful to the genre.
Memorial was played like a short campaign and it was a lot more complex that your typical Giallo plot.
I haven't played the sisters yet but I have read it. And also being from Portugal this is the most "vile" part of the comment for me. It means you didn't actually read the book you are commenting on, or you have severe comprehension issues. The scenario takes place after the resolution, in order to capitalize on the turmoil of a post-revolutionary society just free from a 40y dictatorship.

Hm... Looks like the OP may have some kind of axe to grind here (imo). Anyway, I've got all of Miguel's work so far, and this to me is proper Giallo. Anyway, I was delighted with my purchases so I'd highly recommend any of Miguel's work, you won't be disappointing. PS - And big up to Postmortem for publishing this kind of material.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
