The Brukesian Duchy is a human territory by the northern border of a kingdom. The kingdom’s capital is so far south that the crown’s influence is negligible. It is surrounded by dangerous forests that a court of cruel fey princes rule. The regional map is generic in its contents and geography. It requires little effort to insert this region into any campaign setting. Both the human duchy and the fey-realm in the region are self-contained and require little to no modification to use.

The regional setting and map favor a hex-crawling approach. This document contains rules for traversing and exploring the duchy and the forest. This is an OSR product with no rules-talk or predefined RPG system. All encounters are described without rules or in-game mechanics.

Hi guys, first I want to say I love this product! I can't wait to use it! Secondly though I have a question - on page 10, Random Events, the text states "A random event may occur once per day." Shouldn't this say "A random event may occur once per PHASE"? On page 8 it was previously stated under Travel Phases that there are three phases per day and that Random Events happen after the players Declare Actions.

I just wanted to point this out for correction, but if I am wrong and misunderstanding please let me know!

Helo Zackery, it's a typo. Thanks for pointing it out. The intention was once per phase.

Hi Derek. Fantastic product, thanks, I'm going to be running it from next week. I was wondering if it would be possible to add a map that doesn't have the route of The Itinerant Parade on it? At session 0 one of the players said their PC would look for a map of the area but I don't want them to see the route as a mapped feature and go straight to it, rather hear rumours or stumble on it by accident.

You're most welcome. Could I be super-picky and point out the text for the Parade is still on the map even though the route isn't :)

Looks great. What level is the module designed for? Is it scalable?

Hi Jeff, this is system neutral. There is no pre-defined level for any of the content here. But I'd say it's gonna be tier-1 or 2. You can download the free version that includes the first few chapters and see for yourself!

This looks really neat! Unfortunately, the thin white hex grid lines on the Brukesian Dutchy map (preview pg. 6) are hard to see, at least for my eyes. All those swirling thumbprint-patterns on the trees are lovely, but they make picking out the narrow lines difficult.

Would it be possible to release a map with a bolder hex grid?

Hi there Jayme A. Thanks for the feedback, We've just added a new downloadable zip file with a new version of the map with a more noticeable grid. It should be a real improvement. Let us know what you think!

Awesome! Thanks so much.

Edit: The bold version looks wonderful! I'm not sure why I'm not showing up as a purchaser yet. Maybe because I just bought it. :)

Are there any plans for a Print on Demand version? If so, will customers who buy the PDF version early get a discount on the later POD release?

Jayme A, I'll be super honest. We've never done a PoD before and I personally feel like it is a daunting undertaking. So, I have no plans for a PoD at the moment but rest assured that as soon as our schedule opens up a little, I'll research the matter and get to work. This is probably going to be the first of our offerings that get a PoD.

About a discount, sure thing. We appreciate the support of the community. We'd roll out a discount for past supporters, for sure.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
