Morningstar: The Triumvirate Pacts Core Rulebook is required to play this Adventure Module (available here)

Morningstar: Unreach Ascension is a Solo Story Adventure. The premise for the story, along with the endgame of the antagonists, are included along with a brief description of the setting and circumstances. The descriptions are provided for the purpose of immersion only.

This Expansion also includes a new playable Axiom – the Nasaka Spirit.

Every Species tell stories of the Unreach. These stories serve as stark warnings in the form of myth, legend, religion, and philosophy. Even the most advanced Sciences are not able to explain the paradox of a realm within a realm.

When a powerful being from the Unreach decides to enter our plane, all of Known Space will bare witness to one simple truth – that the Unreach is real.

The Story is your own to tell, and your Character is yours to play.

The Unreach is a realm within a realm, often perceived to be a separate dimension - though this may never be ascertained. One of the Barathuum’s many responsibilities is to guard the sites of Rifts between the corporeal realm and the realm of the Unreach. Some Barathuum exploit these Rifts to gain power from soul sacrifice – casting sentient beings willing or unwilling into the Unreach. Some Barathuum use exposure to the Unreach as a method to punish and torture those who transgress in the corporeal realm. Every Species has countless interpretations of this endeavour, and every Species fears a breach in these Rifts, where the denizens of the Unreach ascend to stalk the corporeal realm. Though such occurrences are rare, they are not unheard of.

Only those most attuned to the balance of Universal power are able to close a Rift or banish a denizen of the Unreach back to it’s home. Trained by the Triumvirate in secluded temples, the Nasaki were spiritual warriors who devoted their lives to protecting the corporeal realm against beings from the Unreach who arrive to wreak havoc.

Over countless millennia the Nasaki honed their craft to such an extent that denizens of the Unreach feared the warriors who worked alongside their Barathuum overlords.

Choosing to strike at primitive worlds who had yet to gain the ability to unite with their Galactic neighbours, the Greater Soul known as Zokara the Spurned bided his time, collecting sacrificial souls, and never announced his intent to his fellow Lords of the Unreach. After several hundred years Zokara had secretly amassed enough power to challenge the Barathuum Guardian Damuzid. Although the Barathuum eventually subdued the Greater Soul, the fight had been a decoy. Zokara knew he could not outmatch Damuzid, and had no intention of ever doing so. Zokara had divested his true power into the vessels of fallen warriors trapped within the Unreach. As he battled in vein against Damuzid, thousands of Zokara’s warriors carved out and poured through a Rift to the High Temple of the Nasaki on Planet Eridu. The Nasaki, used to hunting denizens of the Unreach in teams of four or five, were eventually massacred by Zokara’s warriors who became known as Bahuk’Zaka – a Nasaki word meaning “Devourers”.

Damuzid wept for the fate of the Nasaki and, in an act forbidden to all Barathuum, bound his soul to the energy feeding the Rift. This sealed the Rift and kept Zokara confined within the Unreach, however the Bahuk’Zaka remained at large and Damuzid’s soul was unable to return to the Barathuum Homeworld for restoration.

One thousand years on, there are rumblings amongst modern-day scholars and disciples of Nasaki teachings. They talk of the coming of Zokara and the Unreach Ascension, along with the re-birth of the Nasaka Spirit through an unprepared vessel.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
