Deck of Terribly Broken Bodies, A Third-Party Mörk Borg Card Deck

Selected Option:

Turn to this card deck whenever a PC is reduced to zero hit points. Instead of rolling a d4 and checking the table in the core rules, draw a single card from this deck whenever a PC reaches zero HP.

Each card includes one to four skulls. These correspond with the one, two, three, and four faces of a d4 so that you can easily meld these cards with the official rules. If you check each of the cards, you’ll note that the end result is similar to the core rules for Broken bodies. These cards provide more flavor and detail, all of which may be ignored or modified as the GM wishes.

The results on each card are divided into “Bash” and “Stab.” Use the result that best aligns with the attack that reduced the PC to zero HP.

Many of the cards include results that are permanent, forever impacting the PC (if they survive the card drawn). As always, the GM should apply their judgment to any results and make changes as they feel are appropriate to the campaign.

This card deck may also be used when a PC is reduced to negative HP. Draw one card for each point the PC has fallen below zero and then apply all drawn cards to the character. Start with the worst result (four, three, two, one is the sequence from worst to less bad) and apply each one in order.

If the character survives this encounter with death, ignore the core rules and allow the PC to continue living. Of course, they are likely to be in a bad state after suffering the effects of multiple cards at once.

Healing: Some of the cards include suggested times for the mending of broken bones. These are not set in stone; as always, the GM makes the final decision.

IMPORTANT NOTES: I have skewed the “d4” results. There are 9 cards each of the 4 and 1 results and ten cards each of the 3 and 2 results. Additionally, the ten different "two" results are technically five results twice; one set of right arm/leg/eye and one set of left arm/leg/eye.

This PDF was created thanks to the support of 595 backers who joined in the Kickstarter campaign for A Trio of Twisted Decks. Thank you to all of the supporters for making that campaign a success!

Great cards with an appropriate Mork Borg design, but agree with other reviewers that individual images would be supremely helpful for getting them into a VTT!
Even just a PDF with one card per page like you have for the Deck of Corpses would be great!

Beautiful cards, great effects. Putting right into my game. For the price I was hoping to have the individual card graphics so I didn't have to slice them for VTT entries but no big deal; fun stuff, recommended!!

It seems for the PDF, the pages are cropped incorrectly... the top row of the top cards of each page has part of the cards cut off, so every 3 cards on the top of each page is incomplete, this includes the page that has the card backs... this seems to be the same for all the "deck of..." PDFs in this set.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
