Puzzle Dungeon: The Seers Sanctum

---- Followup puzzle dungeon, Aberrant Reflections, is crowdfunding in February! ----

The print version of The Seers Sanctum can be found on

It's like a 'Legend of Zelda' puzzle dungeon, but instead of Link, you play as a group of grubby grave robbers. Also, there's way more eyeball stuff.

"Interactivity is very high, rivaling the best of adventure in that area."

"Far too often 'Puzzle Dungeons' and interactivity is [a] simple something like a riddle or some other forced concept that is divorced, mostly, from the theming of the adventure... This dungeon doesn’t do that. It’s less puzzle, in that definition and more 'the dude who built this house was really into eyeballs.' The dude, in [this] case, being the eyeball religious cult that used to live here."

-Bryce Lynch of Ten Foot Pole

DirectS: As someone who loved this and purchased it, it's time to call it done and move on to something else. Please. I'm sure I'm not the only one who isn't enamoured of redownloading it every time there's a small tweak. You have a great idea here and I'm begging you to apply your creativity to something new. Thank you.

Thanks for your message. No need to download every little update. I just push them out when it makes sense. I assure you that Seers Sanctum isn't consuming my creativity :)

I am working on something new. Stay tuned.

Gotta say, this was just what I needed!
Puzzles can be great fun if they're not tedious, repetitive, or too complex.
For a beer-and-pretzel game, the kind I like to play, these strike the right balance between entertainment and challenge.
This would be a really fun dungeon to play from entrance to ending—but what I wanted was a bunch of good "thinking situations" to sprinkle into my own dungeons from time to time.
Most if not all look really easy to lift into an existing dungeon. I'm running Stonehell right now and I know where couple of these would fit perfectly.
All in all, great product!

Where's the entrance to the dungeon?

Yeah, I had to do a double take on that too.
It's implied in the intro and the hooks that the players probably descend from the ceiling in Room 1, but I think something on the map (Spiral stairs? Stairs off the map to the north? "Start?") to indicate its where players begin would be a good idea.

Updated with an entrance noted on maps for area 1.

A printed product might be in the cards for the future. For now there are two versions of the PDF included here. A digital one for use with screens, and one intended for self-print as a booklet that you can staple bind.

Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
