Still getting through it, it seems very complete. Sample critters or cops or minions would have been helpful, reading it I have no idea if a prowess of 2D is a martial artist or a soccer mom (for example)

Thanks for purchasing my game! In general Human Tier characters (Trait Ratings 0D - 3D) are ordinary people, Metahuman Tier characters (TR 4D to 6D) are street-level supers, Superhuman Tier characters (TR 7D to 9D) are your 'typical' superheroes, and Ultrahuman Tier characters (10D to 12D) are galactic-level heroes. So Prowess 2D is okay for the average joe, while professional boxers are probably 3D. 'Typical' soccer moms (and most game designers) are usually Prowess 1D types. :) I'm hoping to include a larger number of characters in my first supplement. I hope that answers your question!

What are the game mechanics?

The basic game mechanics are discussed on pages 5 & 6 of the preview. Essentially, characters roll a number of d12 equal to the rating of a trait (which ranges from 1D to 12D). In a standard task roll, success is rolling one or more dice equal to or greater than a difficulty (or target number); an effect task roll, the degree of success is determined by how many dice roll equal to or greater than a difficulty. An opposed task roll is where two or more characters are in direct competition, with each rolling a number of d12 equal to the rating of the trait each is using. The difficulty for each character is the number of dice their opponent is rolling. The character with the greatest number of success dice (number of dice that are equal to or greater than the difficulty) wins the task roll. Opposed task rolls are usually used to determine the amount of damage inflicted or the effect of a non-combative power. :)

Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
