D20 Go is a complete roleplaying game streamlined for quick live play sessions or asynchronous play-by-post. It is the perfect system for groups struggling to schedule time to play. Inspired by older editions of Dungeons and Dragons, D20 Go is flexible enough to let you create any kind of character and any kind of fantasy story you want. The core rulebook includes everything you need to play.

Boundless roleplaying for busy schedules.

Features of D20 Go:

  • Seven classes that can be deconstructed and combined, allowing you to create any kind of fantasy character imaginable.

  • Ability scores, skills, and powers are simplified into Traits so you have descriptors instead of numbers to keep up with.

  • Combat is handled in one round - Players roll 2d20 to represent the entire scene. The GM determines the outcome, but the players get to narrate how it happened.

  • Spells and monsters are designed to promote story rather than to just add flavor to combat.

  • The core book includes a campaign setting with three realms, each focusing on one of the primary species: the mercantile humans, the mysterious elves, and the innovative goblins.

  • Any fantasy campaign setting or module can be converted to D20 Go in just a few minutes.

  • Look for us on Facebook to get help and a link to our Discord server where we have some great player resources!

Quick question: the wording on the spellcaster class abilities is confusing me (possibly because I've played so many d20 games). Specifically, "you automatically learn any three spells per level." Per caster level? Or per spell level?

Would a mystic of character level and caster level 2 (with the "spellcaster" and "true caster" abilities) know three spells from the level one tier, or would they know six spells from the level one tier?

It is by character level. The advantages of the True Caster feature are higher spell levels and, more importantly, higher caster level (for when you need to roll a spellcasting check).

Ah, okay, that makes a lot of sense. I had a feeling I was overthinking it. Thank you!

Right now it's just a germ of an idea in my head, but I will absolutely give attribution and let you know before I do anything. :)

Okay, I now have a question now that I've finished reading the core book's mechanics- how to the Heroics scores of the monsters in the Bestiary affect normal combat? They have a set DC- do the Heroics figure in somehow, or are those scores there for some other purpose that I am not yet understanding?

I never initially intended on establishing monster Heroics (it's totally unnecessary), but several of my playtesters wanted more thorough stat-blocks. They *could* be used for opposed Heroics rolls for dramatic 1v1 scenes.

Oh! So it only figures in for that kind of action. Got it! That makes sense. I couldn't find reference anywhere for what to do with monster Heroics scores!

This book is really sharp and has me considering running a play-by-post game after a previous attempt that fizzled out. One question, though, is it possible to make it so the PDF can be printed without the colored backgrounds? While they are gorgeous in the POD book (which I do have and love) my old eyes could benefit from me being able to print this off at full letter-size (rather than the digest size of the POD book), and that's going to murder my poor printer's ink supply!

Thanks, Jeffrey! I am currently working on an update to the pdf and will make a note to enable this feature. I had to teach myself publishing and had no idea that was something that had to be set up in the creation of the pdf. I'm on it though!

Good to know! My printer is already angry at me for printing Space and Z! And those are short!

Yes! Both the sci-fi variant and the post-apocalyptic variant should be available on DriveThruRPG soon. They will be available in pdf format as "Pay What You Want." Find us on FaceBook, and I might be able to get you an advance copy.

As others have mentioned before, I'm eager to try this out but I'm just kind of fed up with reading so many PDFs. I'd rather use PDFs as handy references on the go, not a substitute for a hard copy. Specially being a a new system, I'd rather wait for the book! But make no mistake, I'm am very interested.

Any chance of a Print on Demand (POD) version?

Some people find it a lot easier to absorb information from a hardcopy, and the book would look lovely on my shelf.

Such a lovely book! The illustrations are breathtaking, the game itself looks like it would give us hours and hours of joy and fun while being extremely adaptable to other settings and I cannot wait to create a campaign. Congratulations to both the author and the artist!

Since the game is designed for mobile play, we have always used the built in character sheet in RoleGate or wherever we are playing. There is a physical sheet in the works. We have a Google spreadsheet/character builder on our Discord server, as well as a fully automated character generator. Everyone is welcome to come by, look around, and ask questions about the game at https://discord.gg/YSkepNa. Happy adventuring!

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
