Great product!

Is there a forum somewhere that caters to discussion of different designs using your add on(s) or do we just post questions here and fill this discussion with questions?

Hi David,

I don't have a dedicated server or forum. Players and GM using my products usually discuss them in the #third-party-products channel in the Discord server whose link is in the credits/intro page of the PDF.

I'm also available on Discord directly @Gronyon#0843.

Hi Great Addon!

But i have a Question an an Idea:

The Question: Design Points for Shutdown Backlash shouldnt it be a -1 intstead of the mentioned +1

The Idea: When you make an Update can you mention the Design point Costs in The custom Classes ?

Kind Regards

Thank you Jens!

Shutdown Backlash: It is intended to be +1. This backlash is in fact less damaging than he regular one. You don't get a -1 to all your Trait rolls, you don't get all your other active powers to immediately end. So you have to spend points to get that "easy" backlash.

Idea: yes! it's planned for the next release :D (in which a new Arcane Background should also appear)

Hello Cyril,

question regarding the shutdown backlash. Waht would it be worth as an additional effect ? Du you have an Idea when the update is ready ?

Kind regards

I would go with -1/2 like an explosive backlash or a dynamic backlash.

The next release isn't ready at all. I have prioritized another product before updating that one.

Loving what I have read so far. Could you explain the points for the Arcane Backgrounds. What are their equivalents? How many points equal an edge etc? The half points seem to equal a quarter of an edge and the free seasoned edge for AB seems to be worth one and a half edges?

Glad you like it so far.

As for the points, they are based of the Making Races ability points (see end of page 9, and an edge is 2 points in SW Making Races).
So, you are right: the half point is worth a quarter of an edge.
And also right: a "free seasoned edge" costs 3 points or one and a half edge. I chose to make it so since it ignores the requirements.

If you have other questions, feel free to ask, I'll do my best to answer :D

Still reading through the other books. Loving what I see. Prayers and tomes may have what I am looking for.

Had a question about the Schools limitation on page 17. Paragraph 2 seems to say that you need to also take the +1/2 Signature Power (pg10) to gain the Signature power for your chosen school. Paragraph 5 says that when a mage specializes in a new school he automatically gains the school's Signature Power. Do you need Signature Power in your Starting Kit to get the new power or is it automatic with learning a new school?

Wizards need to start from scratch in Spellcasting when learning a new school under their version of Schools of Magic which seems really harsh. Is that intended to also be in the Schools descriptor. Wizards in general seem pretty disadvantaged compared to the other classes. Is that to reflect their ability to eventually learn more Powers?

Do you have an idea how you would price out how many Powers a background has access to and how much, for instance doubling the number, would cost?

Thanks! Great a product! (Reviewed it under name Jeff R)

Hello Gerrit,

The "if any" is important here.
If the Arcane Background only has the School Feature (and no Power Signature), then learning a new School does not grant you a Signature Power.
If the Arcane Background also have the Signature Power Feature, then each new School you learn automatically teaches you the Signature Power of that School. (it makes Signature Power a bit stronger when used with Schools).

The part that describe features is a toolkit to create your own Arcane Backgrounds. If you are designing your homebrew setting or converting an existing one, you would decide whether to use School (cost half a point), or Signature Power (cost half a point) or both (would be one point).

Page 41, I do propose a Wizard Arcane Background. For this specific background I did choose to go with both.

Read the Skill Specialization in Savage Worlds (SWADE p141), you only have one skill (Spellcasting), you don't have one skill per school (it's...See more

Hey, I was wondering how much the sins mechanic from the priest would be valued at in terms of points?

Thank you for the great product.
Customer avatar
Cyril R September 25, 2020 7:15 pm UTC
hi Andrew.

I valued it -2 points, like a Major Hindrance (since it's very similar to Vow or Code of Honor, especially with the risk of losing your powers "forever").

15 PP → 6 points
2 powers → 2 points
Extended cast → 0.5
Signature → 0.5
that's 9.
"sins" at -2 brings us back to 7 :)

I'm happy you like the product. Thank you for the feedback. It DOES matter a lot to us authors. Pushes us to create new content and keep up with the quality level !

Rule System(s)
Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
