MAZE RAT is one page, both sides, solo roleplay extension to the best selling MAZE RATS by Ben Milon (Questing Beast Games).

It has been designed to fit in seamlessly with Ben's super light OSR classic game of random worlds and wild magic.

MAZE RAT uses the same combination of 2d6 and six d6 lists that you will be familiar with from the main game.

Maze Rats and Knave share a lot of excellent features that make it idea for solo play

High compatibility with OSR games. You can use any OSR bestiaries, adventures and spell books, little or no conversion is needed to use them with Maze Rats and by extension solo with Maze Rat.

Solo is a perfect way to learn a new game, test your first adventures and going beyond just making characters when you are first getting to know the rules.

Fast to learn, easy to play. If you have solo played using any oracle system, you will pick this up instantly.

Sandbox Play Maze Rats is based around a randomly generated world, Maze Rat [these rules] build on that by encouraging you to improvise threats and adventures

Thank you for your add-on ! I tried twice to play Maze Rats solo but I find it very hard to evaluate the difficulty. The second I put my character in danger, he instantly dies because the combat rules are sooo hardcooore ! Where is the fun in that ? I suppose I could play several PCs or level them up

There are two things you can do. The first is fairly simple, start at level 2 or even level 3. You do not have the advantage of friends and allies to help you, so give yourself a slight all-round boost.

The second option is to treat combat as a pair of oracle questions.
Can I get the better of this opponent? Yes/No
Depending on the answer you could ask Can I finish them off? Yes/No or Can I save my skin? Yes/No

If you are tougher then the opponent the odds are in your favour, if you are both about the same then it is 50/50 and against a tougher opponent, they are against you.

With your two answers, you can then imagine the battle. Two yes answers is a swift victory, a yes-no starts in your favour but is a hard fought victory, or maybe they escape, a no-yes is you coming back from a near defeat, and a no-no doesn't need to mean your death, it could be defeat and capture.

That oracle lead replacement combat is much more narrative and you have to interpret...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
