Yugman's Guide to Ghelspad Part Three (5e OGL)

Pay Heed to the Wisdom of Yugman the Sage

A century and a half after the Divine War, the titans lay defeated and scattered across Scarn and beyond. As the people of Ghelspad work to build a new world on the war-torn remnants of a fallen paradise, new heroes rise, and new threats emerge. Yugman the Sage brings an overview of these new heroes and villains, as well as the tools they use to rise to power.

Yugman's Guide to Ghelspad Part Three includes new Backgrounds for arcane societies, three new subclasses, and associated spells.

Scarred Lands Players GuideA Land Where Legends Walk

Drawing enthusiastically on Greek mythology, the revised and re-imagined Scarred Lands nonetheless retains its place as a modern fantasy RPG setting. This is a world shaped by gods and monsters, and only the greatest of heroes can expect to be counted among them. The most populous continent of Scarn, Ghelspad, plays host to vast unexplored regions, hides unsolved riddles from ancient cultures, and taunts adventures with the promise of undiscovered riches hidden among the ruins of older civilizations.

Yet the myths of the Scarred Lands are relatively recent events. The effects of the Titanswar still ripple through the world, and the heroines and villains of many of these stories are part of living memory, if not still alive themselves.

In the spell list table, there seems to be a few inconsistencies with the level of some spells.

I've noticed Inquisition (1st level instead of 4th) and Mormo's Serpent hands (3rd instead of 5th). I haven't checked them all though. I imagine that in case of a doubt, the spell description prevails over the table?

Spell description should take precedent, yes. Thanks for the heads up.

Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed. I am currently running a Scarred Lands adventure in the City of Mithril, and am working at introducing the Penumbral Pentagon, so I was really excited. The information on the Pentagon is very lack luster, and directly goes against the 3.5 sourcebook for the Penumbral Pentagon that I'm drawing heavily through. This supplement goes as far as to say that there is no actual Penumbral Fortress ... Lame, I guess the maps of the Fortress in the old supplement just exist in my mind.

Consider that the information presented in the Backgrounds section is aimed at starting characters, and presented through narrators that may not always be reliable. The Penumbral Pentagon entry also calls into question the existence of Dar'Tan (yes, he exists, clearly) and attributes the powers of its membership to possessing Slarecian Blood, because that is what they are told.

As is always the case with the Penumbral Pentagon, there is more going on here than what is seen on the surface.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
