Ruination: A Savage World Post-Apocalyptic Miniatures Game

“To err is human, but to really screw the world up it requires a computer…In this case-two.

Yeah, one decided that humanity had to go so it cooked up chemicals that could mutate DNA and wipe humans from the planet.  The other wanted to be helpful so it built a whole zoo of Nanobots to counter them.  But both were wrong, they screwed the pooch, forgot to carry the four or just plain missed something about human biology.  The Mutagen didn’t kill everyone, but it did certainly changed the ones that didn’t die.   The nanobots were sometimes helpful, sometimes they just tore apart things at the molecular level and rebuilt them in whatever God-forsaken form they wanted.  And where the Mutations mixed with DNA inside a person…whoa momma…that was sooo un-good (On the Good/Bad Scale).

So now where there were cities there are ruins, or worse.  Where there were populations, there is now ghosts and where there was a viable ecosystem, there is waste.  Nobody has enough, everyone is always hungry and everyone is fighting for whatever they can get a hold of.

So gather a crew together for protection, for support and so you can scavenge what’s left in the world.  Because I promise you, there are others out there and they will take what you got.

The old world is over, wrecked and looted, now you and yours have to fight…”

RuinAtion is a “crew” based miniature skirmish game utilizing the Savage Worlds game mechanics that is set in a world destroyed by two imperfect Artificial Intelligences.  In Ruination players construct crews to fight battles in a ruined landscape.  Miniature types come from archtypical post-apocalyptic media.  These “WarCrews” are meant to represent the good, the bad and the ugly bands of survivors who fight over resources, space or just plain bragging rights, and gives a player a chance to customize their own small WarCrews  to fight quick battles.

Features of the game:

  • Utilizes the Fun, Fast and Furious Savage Worlds Role Playing Game system to add depth and character to miniatures game.  A figure isn’t necessarily “trooper number 3” but “Sarah Slide, the best shooter in the Outback.”  Instead of a player “activating unit two for its movement phase” they will be making “Terror Tyler take a running jump over the gap between the two catwalks while firing his MP5.”  The battle becomes a story and not an exercise in moving models.
  • Set in a world Ruined by technology.  In all, the basic game has over 40 customizable figure types.  To make the game feel like an Apocalyptic world, RuinAtion includes rules for strange  energies,  a myriad of weapons and warriors that inhabit that world.  This includes mutations and looting, Tragically Enhanced beings  and rare ammunition.  .
  • All games are 50 points in size, resulting in crews averaging 7-10 figures a side with playing time under 90 minutes a game.  Resulting in a quick fast game that is easy to transport and easy to play with lots of potential for figure and crew customization (both for modeling figures and designing their stats).
  • RuinAtion is designed to be a downloadable PDF for ease of distribution and availability.
  • RuinAtion uses SWADE and you must have that book to play this game.

Does this require SWADE or is it standalone?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
