I haven’t had the chance to look over either Issue yet, but I’m looking forward to it! Having said that, I was Honored to help Proof-read a Fan-Made product a few years back. One word I saw Consistently spelled wrong was “Cavalry”, when they’d written “Calvary”. Yes, both words ARE “Correct” but it also depends on the Usage. Something to keep in mind to watch out for with your Fanzine! ; )

Just some friendly crit, but you guys need to turn on your grammar checker perhaps? Sergeant Robert “Spud” Murphy got wounded while manning an MG3 in the legs... Is the new T2000 stuff including cyber-like weapon body parts now? It's a very clumsy read without a commer here and there ("got wounded, while manning an MG3, in the legs" or "got wounded in the legs while manning an MG3"?).

Not the only error, and the product is overall pretty darn good. But a grammar check would highlight something as clunky as that. Keep up the good work!

Already did a lot of spell and grammar checks but will go back thru it. Thanks for catching that. Keep in mind that this is a fanzine and not something that is being put out by a paid writing team.

FYI - that sentence you spotted went thru grammar check without an issue - but I did a rewrite anyway

David, I can appreciate that. I have worked on enough club newsletters in my time (some time as sole staff!) to know these things happen, and goodness knows I have, and will probably continue to, make mistakes small and large. It wasn't meant to be a nasty criticism because I know the wonderful effort that goes into fanzines and magazines/newsletters and the like.

Oh, ok. I am pretty old school, maybe that's acceptable (you know the grammar thing about helping your uncle Jack off a horse as opposed to helping your uncle Jack, off a horse?) these days?

But as I said, meant to be a friendly crit, not nasty (though I do at times try to use a bit of humour that, depending upon how it is taken, can come of rude as opposed to funny-ish).

I enjoyed it overall

not mad at you in any way - and you were right I should have run it thru spell/grammar checker - have an updated version I will send Marc today ( for instance I missed that one author had spelled Tucson wrong repeatedly). And thank you for the good comments - much appreciated - bringing this fanzine back to life was a work of love but it was work for sure.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
