Rifts® Bestiary™, Volume One

Could the monsters known as Caterpillar Things be the larval form of the Mothman Monster? Is the Corrival Battler as aggressive and dangerous as adventurers claim? Are Darkhounds really magically mutated Dog Boys? Is that why they see Coalition soldiers as friends and allies? Ee-Bee Gee-Bees are kinda cute, how dangerous can they be? Is it true the animals and people slain by the Death Springer rise as zombies?! What on Rifts Earth is a Field Reaper?

This book reveals it all.

Designed with both Players and Game Masters in mind, with creatures that can be used as pets, companions, riding animals, attack animals, and even unlikely allies, as well as slobbering monsters and catalysts for adventure. Adult, juvenile, and young stages of life give every creature three different levels of power and danger. Presented as a complete ecosystem, with maps, and details to bring each animal to life. All provide plenty of spice to add to your characters and adventures.

  • Monsters and animals of Rifts North America.
  • 80+ creatures described in detail, updated and expanded.
  • New predators, exotic riding animals, alien horrors, giant insects, and more.
  • A map for every creature showing where it is found in a glance.
  • Easily adapted to any Palladium setting. Powerful art.
  • Includes basic S.D.C. stats for each creature description.
  • 256 pages written by Siembieda, Walton and others.

One game system – an endless Megaverse® of adventure™

PURCHASER
So the Preview samples are pure hot garbage. Two legal pages, two credit pages, and two table of content pages. Useless. Not a single example of how a creature is presented in this book. In fact, the ToC samples are imperfect because it doesn't go far enough to cite the last creature contained in this Bestiary (Fury Beetle in case you're wondering). Anyways... every creature has a B&W illustration (not full page; vast majority are like a small article picture in a column newspaper), descriptive text (the depth of detail varies wildly between creatures), and stats. There's also a little map of North America for each creature, that shows the area of habitation. Said map depicts the political make up of North America in 2020 (i.e. its showing the 10 Canadian provinces and 49 continental American states). Really? That's horrid laziness. It should be depicting a map using Rift's political boundaries during 100 P.A. -- that's the time stamp of the Erin Tarn entry. Palladium just lifted a map from some random no...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
