Witness the mighty and terrible face of war in a world of magic!

A critically acclaimed high fantasy adventure path for 5th Edition from veteran authors such as Ari Marmell (Heroes of Horror, Tome of Magic), Wolfgang Baur (Editor DUNGEON® Magazine 1992-1995), Wil Upchurch (Midnight®, Champions of Ruin) and Darrin Drader (Book of Exalted Deeds, Serpent Kingdoms).

Stop the Scourge

As war rages on multiple fronts, the heroes call together their allies for a strike against a secret, frozen fortress that defends the Scourge.

Deep in the icy heart of northern Ragesia, the Scourge is Supreme Inquisitor Leska’s greatest weapon: a device powered by the suffering of thousands of prisoners which, if completed, could annihilate a city from across the world.

The heroes must assault this fortress deep in enemy territory, but can they destroy the doomsday weapon before they fall victim to a wintry song of agony?

A 5E fantasy adventure for 15th-level characters.

Hey there, by far this is one of the favourite stories I have had the pleasure of DMing. Thank you for this.

I found a slight error in the stat block of Agony (Incorporeal), under its Endow action it reads "...gains the Agony’s Deceptive Spirit trait". I assume this should read "...gains the Agony’s Living with Pain trait"?

I ordered this and also the Roll20 version. Unfortunately it doesn't have the specs for the Torch of the Burning Sky that was apparently detailed in the previous module #7. But I'm starting my team on 8 (after we finished Tomb of Annhilation.) I need to understand how the Torch functions for my players to have it. Can anyone advise me? Thanks for your help.

For adventures 8 and 9, the primary use of the torch is that it allows the Wayfarers to teleport the Resistance army to various locations without taking fire damage from the burning sky. If you are not using the burning sky in your own campaign setting, you could realistically omit the torch and deal with the Aquiline heart a different way in act 12.

I will see if I can get a copy of the torch's specs into the errata document at https://www.enworld.org/resources/wotbs-errata.1572/

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
