Enhance your ZWEIHANDER Grim & Perilous RPG game with a new Ancestry: the Ubasti!

Beyond common reckoning, there was once a place of endless golden oceans, extending far as the eye could see. Called the Torchlands, this mythological desert was centered around oases and ruled by imperious priest-kings. The oasis people worshipped a pantheon of animalian gods and built megaliths in their honor. However, the vainglorious priest-kings sought for the oasis people to love them as much as they did the pantheon. In their hubris, the priest-kings engineered a servitor, feline race in the image of the gods called the Ubasti (pronounced eww bah stee). The creation of the Ubasti showed the oasis people that the priest-kings were equal to the pantheon. In time, the priest-kings rose to become gods themselves. Thus began the Deicide; a war for primarchy over the Torchlands. As the war raged and the Ubasti fought on behalf of their creators, great pillars of fire reigned down and turned the seas of sand into glass. At the war’s climax, a cataclysm drowned the Torchlands in a great deluge. Being clever as they are, however, the Ubasti managed to escape aboard an arc that carried them across the seas.

Washing ashore some number of months later, the Ubasti quickly acclimated to their new world. While the monomyth of the Deicide persists, their litters have scattered to the farthest reaches over the hundreds of years that have passed. The Ubasti of old may have been hairless, but today they possess a wide variety of feline and humanoid physical qualities. This has led to ethnic divisions within their own Ancestry, as Ubasti rarely intermingle with others outside the litter. While matriarchal and territorial, they are insatiably curious, filled with wanderlust and too clever for their own good. Perhaps it is lucky that Ubasti reputedly possess nine lives… for the grim & perilous world they have come to is indiscriminate with who it chooses to raise up or cast down.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
