If you preordered the print copy from cubicle7games.com then you should receive the product before the end of the year (pandemic and other issues notwithstanding). If you bought the PDF then the print version is available from the above, or should be in your Friendly Local Game Store soon after it reaches the preorder customers.

Accuracy (ballistic skill). I have some trouble with this. (non-native English speaker)

On page 26 it says: Your Mind affects your Accuracy (your ability with ranged weapons)
On page 38 we are given an example: Example: Marie now wants to calculate Vel’s Accuracy with ranged weapons. Vel has Mind (2) and has no Training in the Ballistic Skill...

So clearly if you use ranged weapons, Mind is used.

Then on page 80 (skills) it says:
BALLISTIC SKILL (BODY)
....This Skill denotes your expertise for fighting at range. There are countless ranged weapons....

Here ballistic skill uses Body... where in the previous examples it used Mind.

Am I misinterpretating something here?

Hey Tim!

Accuracy (what page 26 talks about) is what you compare with a target's Defence to determine the total DN of an attack. That is equal to Mind + levels of Training in Ballistic Skill.

When you make that attack, you form your dice pool using Body + levels of Training in Ballistic Skill. For example, if you have 3 Body and Training (2) in Ballistic Skill, you roll 5d6. The Complexity (the number you are looking to meet or exceed on these d6) is determined by your Accuracy and the target's Defence using The Ladder (page 39, and also on the character sheet).

I hope this helps!

So....is there going to be some way to play as Chaos or Death characters at some future date? Cause it seems that this game is only for Order aligned characters.

The game feels easily tweakable. I already converted some units from the AoS wargame into NPCs and want to create Skaven species and Archetypes to play a "Chaosbound" party (or how you name it).

One of the boxes (page 20, Waaagh! About the Greenskins?!) says that species such as Orruks, Ogors, Grots, Skaven, Vampires, Ghouls, and Seraphon will be explored in a different rulebook (possibly as PCs). As Seph D said though, the game is easily tweakable and you could probably hack these species into the game as PCs fairly easily using the bestiary and the guidelines in the book on creating archetypes/species.

There are already tons of fun-stuff on Soulbond Discord. Skaven, Orruks, Seraphon and more. And many NPCs and Archetypes and spells.

So I have to ask:
Death Tests. It seems that the way they work is you make a test based on the severity of the last injury that caused you to become Mortally Wounded. If you succeed, you aren't Mortally Wounded anymore, you are no longer stunned, and you can take your action as normal. If you fail, you are Stunned but can still take either an action or a movement and presumably free actions; which I'm guessing means that you can take potions or cast spells or attack. Otherwise, the state of your condition doesn't change no matter how many times you are Mortally Wounded in combat--Death Tests only become more difficult if you fail them or if you are injured while Mortally Wounded. But this progress towards your demise is reset every time you pass the Death Test or someone else heals you.

To me this means that someone with an extraordinary Body stat can feasibly withstand assault after assault, and not only easily recover between instances of being mortally wounded but also adequately defend themselves...See more

Seems more like the system working as intended. A: These are divinely powered people and they aren't going to fall easily. B: Having a six in any attribute is going to suck up 34 XP. That is a lot. No archetype starts out with more than a 4 and you need 20 more XP to get to 6 from there. If you use free form XP, that is the vast majority of your allocations. Somebody who devotes that much of their XP to one thing deserves to reap the benefits, as limited as those may be.

However, somebody who refuses to die is asking to be dealt with in different ways. Somebody with a Body 6 is likely going to have other, exploitable weaknesses.

Could you give me an example of other weaknesses that can be exploited?
Besides magic? So far, the only other way that I've seen to incapacitate someone was by using magic.

Mundane threats for a body 6 powerhouse? Assuming that they are only deep enough in XP to have the attribute, not hundreds of XP in.

Any threat, hazard, or obstacle that relies on a test or trait based on Mind or Soul. That means they are easy to ambush, easy to trick, they have poor social ability, are largely ignorant, have few Talents, bad Accuracy so ranged threats are harder to deal with. Their actual Training is sure to be low and they are unlikely to have much Focus.

Sure, other party members are likely to be able to shore up these weaknesses, but putting that character in the spotlight of an arena they are merely average in is going to be a much more profound threat than just trying to kill them.

They have no fear of death? No problem. Public speaking is a much more common fear anyway. It doesn't matter how suave the Trade Pioneer is if the Fyreslayers will only talk to one of their own.

Actually, what I meant was "During an encounter, is there a way that I can incapacitate a character like that without literally beating them to death." Off the top of my head I guess examples from other media would include pinning/restraining them and knocking them unconscious.

You bring up a good point about hazards being dangerous and tasks being difficult for those that are untrained. But from your previous statement I got the impression that there were ways that I could challenge players in combat without having to try to get them to fail their Death Save (or otherwise use magic on them).

There seems to be an issue on the backend with DriveThruRPG. We have updated the files, and can see them updated on our end, but the updated files are not showing up in customers libraries. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do on our end and must wait for the files to update. You'll know the file has been updated as it will end in _200520

I have not gone over every single one but after a quick look I could only see P27 and P28 were added. Has anyone else had this issue or is it just me? Though I do appreciate that the PDF now has the pages in the correct order.

The Warhammer Fantasy world was destroyed. Some Gods (Sigmar, Grimnir, Alarielle, Teclis, Gorka Morka, Nagash...) survived the destruction. Now instead of an Old World, we have planes... based on the schools of magic. Fire - Aqshy (the fire world), Light - Hysh (realm of light), etc...
To travel between planes there are Realmgates. (comparably to the Warp in 40K) Sometimes you go where you want to, sometimes not. Realmgates can be used to travel inner-plane too.
Some races stayed the same, others evolved.
There was an Age of Myth: where everything was A-ok. Then came Chaos and the worlds were plunged into the Age of Chaos. And now, Sigmar has returned since the Age of Myth and started battling Chaos which brings us into the Age of Sigmar. (and Nagash tried to destroy the world too...)

Warhammer Fantasy was more Medieval Europe, and Age of Sigmar is more Heroic. See it as Fantasy 40K.

btw, I’ve tried using ilovepdf as I usually do, but the file is REALLY weird. usually there are no noticeable quality losses, but this time the archetype illustrations degraded horribly (no faces were recognizable). maybe there’s a real problem in the placement of the graphics that needs to be addressed as well. also found quite a lot of typos and layout slips. hope the update helps!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
