The Adventure Crafter Deck

Create adventure outlines, seeds, and events for any RPG, in advance or on the spot with The Adventure Crafter!

Based on the DriveThru Platinum selling The Adventure Crafter ruleset, this deck of cards replaces the dice and the book, giving you Adventure Crafter results directly. Please keep in mind that this product is a card version of the printed book and assumes familiarity with The Adventure Crafter system. The guide included here shows you how to use the cards in place of the book, but for a full description on how The Adventure Crafter system works you will need the core book or at least be familiar with it.

The Adventure Crafter Deck handles everything the original book handles, including determining Theme priority, random Plotlines and Characters Lists, Theme determination, Plot Points, Turning Points, and Character Crafting.

The Adventure Crafter is a time-saving, creativity-inspiring Game Master tool that works with any role-playing system. With the card deck, determining Plot Points and Turning Points is now easier and faster, making The Adventure Crafter even more useful for solo play than with the book alone.

The PDF download of this product contains a guide in how to use the deck, various configurations to print your cards from including lettersize, A4, and duplex, and a zip file containing individual graphic images of each card and card back for use with card management apps. The print version is the 106 card deck along with a tuck box. The PDF downloads are free when ordered with the cards, so be sure to check the PDF + Cards option when ordering the print deck.

Is it possible to get the individual card images to be split in two, effectively creating two full cards out of each individual picture. I want to load 200 image files into a picture viewer like Infraview and randomize card draws without flipping them. I assume this won't mess up the probability. Like the possibility of the cards so far. Thanks.

Hi Kevin. Thank you for the suggestion. I would suggest duplicating the image files and then importing all 200 cards without flipping them. The entire deck is complete at the default orientation. The reverse orientation is a duplicate of the default set. I do that to double all of the content to make randomization more consistent (to lessen the chance that after you draw one card, that result is not permanently taken from the deck until the next shuffle).

That would give you the result you're looking for without cutting the cards in half and without changing the probabilities.

I hope the cards are working well for you! Happy gaming!

hmmm.... there seems to be something wrong with the print files. The last (duplex) page in A4 does not print with a back side to it. Also, inbetween there seems to be a problem with the embedded graphics, because all of a suddon (pg 26 and onwards) the data volume sent to the printer explodes to a few 100 MB. Took me nearly 1hr to print

Hi Phillip, thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Please double check the A4 duplex file. I see 36 pages in it, with front to back all the way through. However, I am not too familiar with duplex printing so it's possible I made an error in the formatting.

Is anyone else experiencing a delay in printing or problems with the data?

Please post any feedback here or email me directly. If this is still a problem, I'll see about correcting it and making a new file.

I like them a lot. I will get a lot of use out of these. What are the chances of having these as a reverse color scheme so it takes less to print?

Hi Ricky, thank you for the suggestion! I'd like to have a low-resource print option for the cards. I'll put that on my production schedule and try to get that done.

What size are the cards? More specifically, if you know, what size of card sleeves would these require?

The cards are standard poker size, 2.5" x 3.5".

I wish someone would leave a review so I could get an idea how well the Adventure Crafter Deck works.

I tried your suggestion, but found only the original Adventure Crafter book, not the deck advertised above.

I don't wanna buy the deck until I've heard something about how well the cards work in place of the book.

The deck was just released today.
You're gonna have to wait until others have had the time to buy it, try it and do a review.

Thanks. I didn't realize it was so new (would have helped if I'd thought of checking the date on it). I'll bide my time and hope someone chooses to review it.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
