UNBOUND D6 Role-Playing

I'm very confused. I have a PDF called Unbound Unlimited, which looks very similar to this, but I got it a few years ago. But now, I only see this one listed on Drivethru, so I can't compare the two. In one of the discussions here, I believe I read that the publisher said Unbound Unlimited was forthcoming. Is that a new Unbound Unlimited, in which case I should hold off on buying this, lest I basically buy the same thing 3 times ... or did this come first, and the Unbound Unlimited that I bought was actually the expanded version of this, in which case there's little point in me buying this? Or is this the latest iteration of the game, with no new addition coming in the foreseeable future, in which case, I should go ahead and buy this? I want to support your company, because I have a huge place in my heart for the D6 system, and I think this version of it brings it into the 21st century, along with the Zorro RPG and Mythic D6, but I'd rather just donate some money or something, rather than have multiple versions...See more of essentially the same game to keep track of.

So I have been taking a look at the Essence rules. The Difficulties seem rather high as any other test is rated from 1-10. Essence difficulties can go much much higher than that, You can bring that down with negative effects but I was thinking of halving difficulty, rounding up.

Im looking for this type if system. One thing that is a pet peeve for me is they often have the decision of using an action to attack or defend. Does this system do that?

Having now started converting this game to some of my favourite settings, (Lone Wolf, Fighting Fantasy and Warhammer) it is remarkably robust and flexible. It also combines the best parts of other game systems I love (d6 system, Genesys, Prowlers and Paragons) while providing something easy to pick up and create characters for. The Archetype system is great for creating races, with game balance baked in, and the Advantage system is an elegant alternative to hundreds of traits seen in other games. Name it, Rank it and you are done. My personal house rule, when creating archetypes would be to also allow 1 Rank in a Defining power, or 2 ranks in a Helpful power. That’s 4 points, the same as 2 ranks in an Advantage, keeping it balanced with the other options. That allows a GM to create races with special abilities not handled by the other options (such as large or small creatures, special senses, natural psionic is etc). Anyway I can’t wait to see other supplements!

There is a lot to like here- a decent reinvention of the d6 system, using success based dice pool system, rather than rolling and adding. And it should be pretty good at dealing with most genres. I wish, however, it didn’t use exactly the same stats as D&D - I can’t see the point of that and feels a little lazy. I would rather it had drawn inspiration from earlier west end games. My personal take is to use Strength, Constitution, Dexterity, Knowledge, Awareness and Presence (and Essence).
