Tintagel's RPG Pogs/Tokens (printable)

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Face it, Tabletop RPG players tend to LOVE to have manipulatives at the table.  Players are also NOTORIOUSLY BAD at tracking consumable items or limited use abilities.  What do? Use Pogs!

Pogs are small, circular chips or counters for various things you might want to track.  You can use them for tracking:

  • Spell Slots:  Handy to keep track of how many slots you have left of each level.  Just flip them or toss them into a bowl when used!

  • Class Ability Uses:  Rage, Superiority Dice, Bardic Inspiration, Channel Divinity, Spell Points, Lay on Hands, and Ki Points

  • Give out Pogs for Inspiration or Death Counters

  • Use them to track Hit Dice usage

  • Conditions:  Give out pogs to players to help track fatigue (one pog per level of fatigue) or statuses like Prone, Stunned, Poisoned, etc.

  • Charges or duration of spells like Mirror Image (number of images), Goodberries, Healing Spirit duration, or Shield spell

  • Summoned Creatures or Spells - just drop the Pog onto the map to represent things like Healing Spirit, Flaming Sphere, Spiritual Weapon, Create Bonfire and Cloud of Daggers.

  • Ammunition like arrows, bolts, and javelins

  • Alchemical items like acid, poison, alchemist fire, or sunrods

  • Mundane items like caltrops (place on map!) special ammunition, or Healing Kit uses

  • Magical items like arrows, potions, etc.

What You Are Buying

Note that you are purchasing the DIGITAL IMAGES for these pogs.  You will need to print and glue them to chips, or use a Virtual Tabletop.  This is what you are buying:

  • A ZIP file of OVER 230 pog images, 300dpi, including everything listed above.  See the samples below!

  • A Word Doc with a table pre-sized to print the pogs as 1-inch circles.

  • This link to a similar Google Doc Template with 1-inch table cells. (Note you MUST be logged into a Google account to use this link)

How to Use These

The primary purpose of these is to be used as physical tokens at the table.

  • Download the ZIP and unzip it.
  • Then open either the Word or Google Doc and click on a blank cell.
  • Then Insert the image you want.
  • Repeat for multiple copies of a pog or for new ones.
  • Print them and ideally punch them out and glue them to 1-inch chips.

Making your Pogs

You will want to buy three things to maximize your fun with these (sorry I can’t post external links here):

  1. A 1-inch hole puncher, preferrably a heavy one with the ability to see what you are punching.  Search Amazon for “EK tools Circle Punch, 1-Inch”

  2. Wooden 1-inch chips:  I bought 200 for $10.  Search Amazon for “Boao 1 Inch Unfinished Wood Slices Round Disc Circle Wood Pieces”.

  3. Elmer’s Glue Stick: easily found on Amazon.  You can use rubber cement or something else but the glue sticks minimize mess and are easy to use.

After printing, use the hole puncher, then glue to a wooden chip.  That's it!

Note on Virtual Tabletops:  The summoned creatures and spells can be used in a Virtual Tabletop by placing them on the map.  Other files can be used for object pictures in Virtual Tabletops.

Want Custom Pogs?

These are great but wouldn't you like to make your own?  If you have a little bit of Photoshop experience, you might instead wish to purchase my PREMIUM version, which includes everything in this product PLUS my original PSD file so you can customize these to your heart's content!  Note that the font used in this product is Friz Quadrata, which is included in the Premium pack.

Cool Fact:  Friz Quadrata was used for AD&D modules like The Temple of Elemental Evil, as well as Stranger Things more recently!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
