Be a hero. You pick the hours.

#iHunt is a story telling game about killing monsters in the gig economy. In it, you play millennials scraping by paycheck to paycheck to make ends meet. A gig app called #iHunt offers them more money than they've ever made to hit the streets and kill vampires, werewolves, demons, and anything else that goes bump in the night.

  • #iHunt uses a modified version of the Fate Core Rulebook. You do not need it to play.
  • It's a high-drama, story-heavy urban fantasy roleplaying game.
  • It takes a critical look at the gig economy with irreverent humor.
  • Make your own hunters and monsters using easy collaborative tools.
  • It uses one normal six-sided die, and four Fate Dice.
Zine Supplements: We're expanding on the world of #iHunt through a series of "zine supplements" or as we call them, "zupplements." We're releasing at least one of these short books per month. You can download them here:

About Pricing: Within the coming months, this book will exist in print-on-demand format. If you purchase a digital version, once the print version goes live I will give you a $25 off coupon code to help defray some of that cost. This book is priced as it is for a few big reasons. I'm a fan of transparency, so here are the big ones:

  • I need to be able to justify my time and work.
  • Independent RPGs are criminally underpriced, and the industry isn't going to change itself.
  • There are other games comparable by page count and price ratio. It's not my goal to undercut.
  • If you cannot afford to buy the game at full price, I am committed to giving away free or deeply reduced copies. Pricing my game as it is allows me to do so. So far, I've given away over 100 free or reduced copies.
  • I want to be able to participate in site-wide sales without reducing the price to a negligible amount.

Will this be available on Amazon or just POD?

Almost certain it'll just be POD. If we perform extremely well in the next few months, I might be able to do a traditional print run. But the way things are going, I expect POD is probably the only viable option.

95% sure it'll be POD. If it continues to do very well for the next few months, I might be able to fund a traditional print run. But I don't want to get anyone's hopes up in that regard.

8.5 x 11. Same format as the PDF. Although I will be adding some pages before the book goes to final print. I want to add some reference pages and charts and things.

I published on DTRPG once upon a time years ago and now forevermore I cannot leave official reviews. So here's my review: Five out of five stars. Maybe make it six.

1. In general, well-written. The rules were explained well, and this was my first real attempt at working my way through a Fate RPG. The atmosphere and style were on-point, and everything was super clear without me feeling like I was being talked down to. I can't say much here, other than good job!

2. Most contemporary/futuristic RPGs I've looked at the last couple decades fail to account for cell phones, much less smart phones. The authors include the information age in the structure of the game, in ways that are useful and smart.

3. I've been broke as, and housing insecure, and the authors' approach to this is nuanced, empathetic, and just the tiniest bit uncomfortable. Well done!

4. Cyberpunk2020 had these little sidebars on how to survive when someone's hunting you, like how to trap your home,...See more

I never heard of this game (or the series of books) until just a few days ago. I downloaded the sample. I loved it. I'm reading the first novel. I'm loving it.

What's truly great about it is that it's about a lot more than just killing monsters. I find it odd that some of the criticism about this game is that it's too 'political' is laughable. It's about a world a lot of people live in. The gig economy is dystopian, but it is the world we live in. And when you point that out, that is somehow political.

I've just downloaded the game and can't wait for it to be available in print.

Great storytelling and I'm looking forward to trying it out at the table.

Bought it. Amazing stuff. I have a lot more to say about the book and the discussion but thank you for making a game for those of us who don't feel like the system is for us. These are type of kids I work with and some of them will love it. But people shouldn't judge or assume, sorry if I caused anything, I didn't know people would be clutching their pearls. Thank you again for writing this. Great stuff.

People always clutch pearls. Like Bette Davis said, "If everyone likes you, you're not doing it right."

I'm glad it's resonating with people. Thank you so much for your comment! I hope you get the chance to enjoy it.

Hello Olivia, I've been watching this book for a few days now. While I'm not going to rant like a few individuals here, I'd like to say this. I'm not the target audience, some of the stuff I read on the preview sounds like a small push to get politics involved. I don't think real world political views are a good fit for fantasy literature. Not only that, I kindly ask you to consider marking this title as adult content. I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending dtrpg to anyone who might get exposed to the political aspect of this book unwillingly like I did. I haven't purchased your book, and my thoughts were based on what was available for me to read in the preview. I hope you can make the most out of this feedback and I wish you good luck in your endeavors. I'm sure you have put a lot of time and dedication into it. Have a happy new year!

Thanks for your comment! The product isn't filtered as a manual choice. There are numerous far worse products that aren't filtered. Right now, there are front page titles that feature things like graphic rape, gore, and senseless brutality. This game is a far cry from that, and I have a sneaking suspicion that you don't make similar comments on those games.

This isn't fantasy literature. It's a game. If you don't think that political views are a good fit for fantasy literature, I imagine you have a hard time in a field dominated by works like Game of Thrones. This is a work of Urban Fantasy, which as a genre is highly political, and tends to deal unsubtly with current events.

But like you said, you're probably not the target audience. If its very existence makes you uncomfortable, there are plenty of other games you can enjoy!

Yes! It's gonna be a while though. Ordering proofs is really complicated for me right now. So it'll be a few months probably. I'm also trying to integrate errata and typo fixes, along with adding a couple of pages of reference material at the back.

That said, if you order the digital, you get $25 off the print price when it drops.

Publishers can't delete comments. They only get deleted if DriveThruRPG decides they need to be, which may often be based on public feedback about the comment.
Customer avatar

Which means if the PUBLISHER states that they want the comment deleted. This publisher gets anything deleted that counters her narrative. Which says a lot about her, especially after insulting someone above.

Hi there. I was originally going to put this in my wishlist as an "I'll get around to buying/reading this book someday" sort of thing, but Dillard R convinced me to buy this book immediately with their review of the product in the comments below. Thanks for the recommendation, Dillard!

If it weren't for after school programs funding extremely adult-themed games, I wouldn't have gotten seriously into gaming. Teens watch brutal horror movies. Teens have sex. Teens experiment with drugs. Kids say "XXX." Maybe get over your puritanical world view and recognize that your efforts to put teens in a bubble simply aren't realistic, and that exposing them to diverse social views in a controlled environment is better than the alternative.

Also, some games have different priorities. Not everyone is invested in games so they can die to bad dice rolls. That's just not something everyone's interested in. Deal with it.
Customer avatar
Pierre S January 05, 2020 1:54 am UTC
It's hardly "puritanical" to block obscene books that advertise their obscenity on the back-cover. No matter how much you support copulating with moms, schools won't support that, and you can't turn them around to your point of view. It is you who live in a bubble, you have not been taught to behave in proper society. Why don't you get a reality check about morals?

Localities are different, Pierre, and your local PTA/School Board is not representative of the diversity of all high schools; especially those with a majority of students that match the target audience for this game. You shouldn’t assume that your perception of a 99% majority position is one shared by the OP; certainly not without testing it. And in either case it’s not a reason for Olivia to censor the game or for people in general to avoid buying it.

Publishers can't delete comments, Pierre. Something you've missed when also crapping on my company's games only to find that DriveThruRPG (that's who's doing it) deleted your comments, likely because enough people reported your comments as offensive.

What Fred said. If I had the ability to just delete comments, and had interest in deleting yours specifically, I wouldn't engage with them.

Although I've gotta say, it's pretty ironic to talk about how my book should be banned, about polite society, and about morals while going at it in a public space with really gross allegories and profanity of your own.

It's almost like there's a double standard.

People's right to criticize shouldn't be put down to a vote by others. And you've done pretty kooky things, like claiming that in DEEP DARK BLUE it's perfectly normal for someone in a wheelchair to serve in a submarine crew at 300 atmospheres of pressure, for the sake of "inclusiveness", ignoring all scientific practicality. Hi Pierre, I've read your comments and I have some criticism. You do not appear to be talking or arguing in good faith.

1. If you feel the community should not be able to tell you to shut up, you should talk to DriveThruRPG, because they're the ones who (maybe) listen when the community finds your comments offensive. That's a policy and a design decision they've made.

2. If you're just trying to warn people that this book includes The Gays, congratulations! You've done your job. You can disengage now and spend your time more productively. (Mind you, the authors did this job for you with the cover art, the preview, the whole presentation, so maybe you could have spent your time more productively from the beginning.)

3. If your only purpose here is to rag on the creator (of a book you're not even interested in buying) just because the creator is a lesbian or presents lesbians in a non-negative light (and reading your comments, YEP) then you're not exercising your right to "criticize."...See more

"The Gays"? Really?
An opinion isn't "ragging" on someone. Why are you trying to stifle someone's free speech, and desire to express their opinion on a product?
"Bullying is the use of force, coercion, or threat, to abuse, aggressively dominate or intimidate." None of that is apparent above, why you trying to accuse someone of something that didn't occur?

Hi George K, you and Pierre S make a good tag team -- very in sync.

I don't see anywhere that I'm trying to stifle anyone's free speech, just disagreeing with what they said and calling them on it. See my point 1, for recommendations if you feel stifled.

You cherry picked a single definition of bullying and expect me to use it as if it was the only definition? Cute.
Customer avatar
George K January 17, 2020 1:04 pm UTC
And they were simply offering an opinion, and nothing else. So please don't tell them that they are not doing something in "good faith". I have no idea how you are able to judge them on an open platform. Which this is supposed to be.
As for point 1, there are lots of ways to get a bunch of people to flag your comments. It's done across media often enough.
I simply went to the Oxford Dictionary, for the definition of bullying. So if you would like to count multiple definitions, go ahead.

This is literally not an open platform. It’s a private company’s sales outlet where another private company is selling things. I don’t understand why you’re wasting so much time with a game you’re never going to play. Get a hobby. This website alone has 10,000+ options.

"supposed to be" an "open platform": See my point 1, above.
"get a bunch of people to flag your comments": See my point 1, above.

It's almost like you aren't addressing what I actually said, but a straw man that's easier to attack. Nor are you even bothering to pretend to discuss the product anymore.

iHunt clearly doesn't interest you. DTRPG has a lot of products you might like. Why are you still here?

(And if you're shopping for books, maybe get a different copy of the "Oxford Dictionary," since the one you have seems to be a re-labeled printout of Wikipedia.)

George K January 17, 2020 2:56 pm UTC
So hold on, as a publisher, you don't wish people offering their opinion about your product? Shouldn't you be wanting feedback about what you created? That seems odd. Also I'm sorry, a game I will never play? I have been playing FATE since day one, it's one of my favored systems to run. So I always enjoy when new FATE products come out, to mesh into my campaigns. "Get a hobby." Wow, that is an incredibly rude thing to say to a customer on this site. And you are the publisher?

This thread has nothing to do with the product discussion though, check how it started. "I love your transparency. Supporting independent creators is important. I buy games usually for my afterschool program. I'm gonna have to get the school to buy it. But if not I'll figure it out. It looks amazing." This was the initial comment actually. I'm always one to support independent creators, as I am one as well. However, it seems you have a strong amount of vitriol against many making comments on your product. So I was simply responding to it. "Weird tangents", which is interesting, that you're targeting me, and no one else. As for wasting everyone's time, again, as a creator, you would think you would want to discuss opinions about your product. Enjoy your day as well!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
