100 Floors to Find in a Dungeon

Watermarked PDF

Floors. All dungeons will have them at some point. In some cases, the floors may be important, relevant or dangerous. In others, the floors will simply be scenery. This supplement has 100 different floors that can be used within a dungeon to flesh out a room. Some of them may appear important or puzzling, but none have any game effect unless the GameMaster decides otherwise.

This PDF supports Adobe layers and the page backgrounds and images can be disabled to make printing easier.

Here are some sample results:

  • The floor is covered in roiling lava that is emitting dangerous levels of heat. There are a number of hexagonal basalt stepping stones sticking just above the lava’s surface.
  • The floor is covered with limestone flags that are dirty with age and bear the marks of extensive wear, with paths running between the doorways.
  • The floor is covered in at least a foot of tiny stone balls, all exactly 0.5” in diameter and painted bright red. The balls made footing uncertain and difficult to move through, as well as making quite a lot of noise when they are crossed.
  • The floor is made from bones that have been carefully carved and shaped so that they join together without a gap, then the tops smoothed to make a flat surface. Many different sizes and shapes of bones from many different creatures can be found.
  • The floor is made from rectangular cobbles, all 1’ long by 6” wide. The cobbles are in two different shades, a dark grey and a light grey. These have been formed into a spiral, which starts at the edge of the room and spirals into the centre.

One page is the front cover and one the front matter.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
