Meet the Avenging Angel...

Shireel’s friends could do little but stand by and comfort her as she sobbed watching Herman Wasserberg smilingly receive a crowd of well-wishers. The holofilm executive had just won the court case she had brought against him; two agonizing years of pre-trial motions, testimonies, shifting alliances, cross-examinations, repeated journeys into her own personal hell, and public scorn had finally come down to a “not guilty” verdict for him, and unending mental torment for her.

Wasserberg reached the door of a grav limo that had glided silently up for him. He turned momentarily to wave one last time at the crowd just as his head exploded in a cloud of reddish mist. Chaos quickly ensued. Shireel’s friends hustled her back inside the courthouse and relative safety as police streamed to the scene.

Later, when Shireel arrived at her apartment, she found a small folded piece of paper tucked into the door jamb with only three words in neat handwriting: “You’re welcome. Megaera.”

Lucene Kaz was a talented rising star in the Naval Intelligence office, respected for her intel analysis and profiling skills. Until a lustful commanding officer took the ultimate liberty…and with it, Lucene’s self-esteem, her reputation, and ultimately her career. After watching the perpetrator get away with what he had done, she took matters — and justice — into her own hands. And ever since she’s been willing to do the same for other women who suffered similar wrongs under the codename Megaera, an ancient spirit of vengeance.
