ASTEROID MAKER
“Captain… we’ve arrived at our destination, asteroid Julko 438. It appears that this big rock is actually a huge ore full of iron, nickel, and copper. Tell us how we should proceed…”
This random roller is designed to allow Game Maters to quickly roll up brief details about asteroids that the adventuring crew might encounter. Included is the asteroid’s name, type (C,S, or M), and the dominant minerals/elements along with the total amount in weight (tons). Also included is a special roll chart for some random finds as well as a pre-created map of asteroids.

HOW TO USE:
First roll on the Name Table for the first part of the name. Then roll the 10 sided die three times and record each digit to make a 3 digit number. This combined with the roll on the name table becomes the name (example: Corsico 192). Next determine if the asteroid exists in a belt or not. If existing in a belt then determine if the asteroid is located in the inner belt region, the middle, or the outer belt region. After this roll on the appropriate location chart (non-belt, inner, etc.) to find out whether the asteroid is a C, S, or M type.
Next roll 1d6 for the total number of times that you want to roll for the asteroid’s minerals/elements and then roll this many times on the appropriate chart for asteroid type. Roll for the amount (in tons) found for each mineral/element. If you roll a 99 or 100 then choose to either roll again twice or roll once on the Special: Possible Results chart.

Sample Created Asteroids:
Lykos 313 (M Type)
Iron 11,000 Tons

Quartz 700 Tons
Water Ice 3,000 Tons

Meku 981 (C Type)
Clay Compounds 16,000 Tons
Special: Hidden cache of stolen/contraband cargo

No biggie, but you have a typo in the die probability of the middle belt asteroid chart.

Check this out.
I gave this and not the exact link since there are some cool pictures of odd-shaped asteroids here:

Click link near center labeled "Go farther. Explore Asteroids In Depth" to get NASA's definition of C,S, & M class asteroids.

How could an asteroid possibly contain clay or olivine?

The presence of olivine is used a detection marker for an asteroid's silicate compounds. Clay compounds are sometimes found mixed in with the rocky composition of some asteroids.

That said, I do want to advise that many of Fishwife Games space products are geared towards "space opera" type genres that you see on movies, tv shows, certain video games, etc. As such, there's some drift away from hard science. If those elements are not for you then I have to forewarn that you'll occasionally find mention of psychic aliens, space port lobby dwelling fortune tellers, etc.

Cool, thanks! I thought clay had to form in liquid water.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
