What about building the past? Can these rules accommodate time travel into the past, or are they just meant for the future?

Hi, just got the book but something stuck out to me: The barbarian Path of the Stars first ability is worded kinda... inadequately? It states that when you enter a rage, you can add d4 to your first attack roll. Is this your first attack roll per turn (as barbarians get multiple attacks per round), or is this your first attack roll per combat, or is this your first attack roll specifically after entering your rage?

Hi Andrew!

Thanks for your question. The implication is your first attack roll after you rage. The specific wording states, "When you enter a rage, you can add a d4 to your first attack roll. On a hit, you deal an additional 1d6 radiant damage." As it says "when you enter a rage" and not "while raging", your first attack is the first attack you make after entering a rage.

Hope that clarifies things a little and thanks again for your question!

Absolutely, but I've found another sticking point: The Faithless Domain's wording is not clear either. Tend the Flock says "As an action, you can touch a willing creature and expend a number of points equal to your cleric level to aid them. The creature gains temporary hit points equal to the number of points you expend into them. Any temporary hit points gained by you this way disappear when you use this ability again or when you finish a short or long rest."

The assumption I have to make is that this is expending hit points, as that's the only points Clerics get, but also that last sentence makes very little sense in context. I'm actually having a hard time wording this. Is it meant to be that the target loses their temporary HP next time the cleric uses this feature? Or is it that the cleric is supposed to gain temporary HP as well (replacing the permanent HP with Temporary HP) which can be lost by using the feature again? Sorry to bring another set of complaints up!

Is there a Changelog for the different versions?

Hi Cameron G,

In each update, a message has gone out listing the changes. All changes have been either grammatical or clarification within the subclass. All other parts of the document have remained untouched. In the next update I'll be addressing an oversight in three of the subclasses that will bring it more inline with WotC language. I hope this suffices for a changelog for now.

Thanks!

No update just yet. Current turn around means it can take up to 7 weeks to receive your book once ordered, and I'm still trying to get approval from DriveThruRPG that the book is in a print-ready format. Once that's done, I'll be spreading the word far and wide as much as possible.

Hello! I have a question about the Warlock Program Adroitness Upgrade (and Competency Enhancement, working off that). The upgrade lasts until you next use the feature, but there does not seem to be a limit on how often you can use it. Does this mean a Program Warlock can get the +1 to any applicable roll whenever they want?

Hi Tom S! The ability states that you get 1 point of Upgrade and that you can use this to grant yourself a +1 to any applicable roll. The intent should state here that you can do this once per short or long rest but as yet does not. I will amend this in the next update. Thanks for spotting it!

Hi Clint! I'm impressed by how quickly you got that updated!

It's still worded a little confusingly though. I was going over it with a friend and we both came up with a bunch of ways to interpret it.

Is it:
A) You can spend you upgrade point to gain a +1 on a single roll? If this is true then it should be clear that you regain your point after a short rest, and it needs to be clear at what time you can spend the point, e.g. how inspiration can be spent after rolling, but before knowing the result.

B) You have +1 to all applicable rolls while the upgrade is in effect? In which case having a point to spend seems unnecessary if it is effectively a constant effect, and the wording should be "You gain +1 to all attack rolls, ability checks, and saving throws while your upgrade is active.

C) You have +1 to attack rolls with a specific weapon, a specific ability check, or a specific saving throw, and can use the feature to "switch" to a different...See more

Hi Tom S!

Thanks for your continued enthusiasm in this and your kind words. Great to see you so excited :)

In short, the answer is C. You get a +1 bonus to a specific attack (not the weapon, think more "Melee, Ranged, Spell"), specific ability check, or specific saving throw. It's the OR that's important here.

As for the Specialist Ranger, technically, if your DM allowed you have a drone that could do all the things the Specialist's Drone Companion offers, there's no way I or anyone can stop you. However, the subclass states that the drone is built through arcane programming, making it more akin to a magical creature than complex device (despite the drone having no sentience). It works as a magical extension that provides a great boon to any would-be adventurers who might find themselves without network connection. Correct on the repetition too, probably doesn't need to be stated a second time, but does provide slightly different suggestions for what your drone...See more

I don't know if i just missed something in the book but for the Slipstream Rogue's ability Response Time i'm not seeing a way to calculate the DC for the Dex saving throw for this ability.

Hi Shareef J! You haven't really missed something, but it's calculated the way most calculations are done when no DC is supplied (8 + applicable modifier + proficiency bonus). I'll add it in though because having to hunt around for extra math isn't always fun. Thanks for commenting! :)

How long does the Response Time ability last? I see that (as of v4) the DC is listed now, but I'm curious how long that aura effect lasts.

Hi Kale, great question!

The ability lasts as governed by the Uncanny Dodge ability itself. Since it could be considered instantaneous, the aura lasts for the duration of your turn. I'll make a note to make this clearer in a future update.

Thanks!

Not sure if this is the right place to do this, but I wanted to let you know there was a little issue with the Temporal Domain.

"When you choose this domain at 1st level, you can use your
action to touch a willing creature to grant it an additional 5
feet of movement."

This could be used infinitely with this wording. Maybe it could be concentration, or only creature can benefit from it at a time. Or a number of creatures equal to your spellcasting modifier.

Also this so freaking cool, I love all the content. Thank you for making this!

Before I buy this...how viable is it to create a science-fantasy setting or introduce science-fantasy elements into an ordinary fantasy setting?
Customer avatar
Clint S October 01, 2019 2:51 pm UTC
PUBLISHER
Hi Marco! Great question. Ultimately it comes down to your table. Whilst in a time travel setting technically any aesthetic is viable, however, the fact the world remains the same but it's setting changes from time period to time period can be jarring from some players and DMs. This guide is designed to alleviate that as much as possible by creating simple 1-to-1 conversions and as basic of understandings over the changes as possible.

If you've anything you'd like to know more about please don't hesitate to get in contact again here or with me at @haggardclint on Twitter.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
