Abandoned Mine

DramaScape Modern Volume 82

This is a 48 x 30 inch Battlemap of an Abandoned Mine , it has Hex, Square and No Overlays, it also includes the VTT files for online play.

“These burrowing mutant animals keep attacking people at dawn or dusk. The attacks seem to be mostly in the northwest part of the settlement, so we think the hunting party should head out northwest towards the tapped out mine and dried out riverbed we abandoned a year or so ago.” —Settlement Elder

Abandoned Mine is a single level exterior map of a mine entrance in the northwest part of the map in a desert scrubland. A canyon bisects the map with a water wheel in the center. The river that forged the canyon has long since dried out. A bridge in the west part of the map spans the canyon that leads up to the mine. The other side of the canyon has desert paths that lead up to the bridge and off the map that curve around rocky outcroppings and a bluff.

Abandoned Mine is intended for use in modern game such as westerns, modern era games, or even post-apocalyptic games.

Adventure hook for use with this map:

Get Those Varmints! The group is playing a hunting party that has been hired by the settlement elder to hunt down animals that have been eating settlers. The settlement elder tells them to investigate the burrows in the northwest corner of the settlement and a mine to the northwest of the settlement.

If the group investigates inside the burrows, there is an interconnected tunnel with many smaller branches that leads off towards the mine. The desert paths also lead to the mine entrance with evidence of burrows along the sides of the path.

The mutant creatures have small ears, large brown eyes, and large snouts. Their skin is scaly with fine hairs growing out in between the scales. Their maws have thick squared off incisors with rows of jagged sharp teeth behind. Their four feet end in razor-sharp claws with four digits. They have cone-shaped tails. Physically, they are about the size of very large dogs. Two to three can easily take down a man-sized target. Can the group survive and exterminate them?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
