10 Dollars for a Playtest? If you want to engage your potential audience and get them to do Q&A for free maybe it would be an idea to make the Playtest free? Pathfinder 1st Edition Core Rulebook was only $10 and that was for a finished 500+ Page book...just saying. I’ve played Talisman since it’s release in the 80’s and I am curious but I won’t pay to test a game for a company.

I understand your feelings on the matter, but its also a preview of the final game and is priced similarly to other such previews. That said, if you want to get a look inside the game and the mechanics you can follow my Designer Notes entries over on the Pegasus Spiele Global Facebook page. Anew entry should be up in the next few days with a new one to follow every 2 weeks.

SPELLCASTING: "...After a Full Rest (8 hours), you automatically recover all Enduring spells…." maybe it's correct that you recover all Spell Points lost instead?
Customer avatar

Should read: "After a Full Rest (8 hours), you automatically recover all Enduring spell and spell points.

I thought Enduring Spells couldn't be forgot or burn. So, why recovery them? You should ever got them ready.

You can still "burn" an Enduring spell but you have access to it again after a Full Rest. Other spells would be gone forever.

Some questions:
1. "Aspect Caps: Each Ancestry allows you to increase
the cap for one (or more) of your Aspects to 7. Underline
this Aspect on your character sheet." What would be the normal limit of an Aspect? I can't find it in the manual.
2. page 32 - Step Four - "(When you assign points from Strength or Craft, you can assign 2 points to one Attribute, or you can assign 1 point to one attribute and 1 to another.)" What?!... Attribute? Is it badly explained or do I not understand its meaning? How does it works?

The normal max for Aspects is 6.

My sincerest apologies. Please just ignore that sentence. That will be removed in the coming update. The rest of the description is appropriate.

On page 16 you can read "You do not have the animal form advancement" but on the next page it's called "animal features"
Customer avatar
Ian L August 27, 2019 1:27 am UTC
It should read Animal Features.

This looks exciting!

Quick Question -
Is there a ruleset comparison that can be done here?
is it D20 like D&D?
% based like Runequest?
D6 like ShadowRune?

Thanks in advance

It's a D6 system. 3d6 are rolled, added together, and compared to a difficulty number. (a bonus die can be added in certain instances, in which case the PC gets to choose 3 dice of his/her choice and discard one) One of the 3 dice is called the kismet die and is a different colour. It's still added to the other two dice, but additionally if it comes up as a 1 or a 6 it generates "Fate". A roll of one generates a point of dark fate, which the GM can spend to activate NPC special abilities etc. and a roll of 6 generates light fate which the PC can spend on similar boons (either immediately, or saved up for later encounters). There are degrees of success on tests as opposed to binary pass/fail, and rolling doubles or triples while meeting or exceeding the difficulty number can generate greater successes. That's all I've read so far, but looks good.

Also, the players take all of the action. When in combat with a monster it is the character's action and the degree of success rolled that determines the outcome. The GM doesn't actually roll dice except for damage.

Well in the same way any fantasy game does. I don’t have a lot of love for swingy d20 based games such as D&D, so this looks fun. And it captures the spirit of the board game very well.
Customer avatar
Ian L August 26, 2019 3:46 am UTC
I realize you're probably trolling, but the combat system plays very differently from D&D and the game incorporates a lot fo the aspects fo the board game. Yes, it's a fantasy game, but a fantasy game set in the world of Talisman.

It was a bit expansive, but the pdf doesn't seem to be correct as there is missing art from the 7th page onwards?

Been in the works for about a year and a half now. Pegasus already released a modular Talisman board game for kids, and have a re-release (with some new modules too) of the FFG version of the regular Talisman, and there's a Talisman card game coming from them, too.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
