Note: This is a legacy product that has been incorporated into the main Player's Guide/Director's Guide with error corrections, balance updates, etc. I've returned it to digital storefront availability to give people a better idea of what's been added to the game over time/a better taste of how it plays.

The skies roared with thunder and the earth heaved, then came darkness and a stillness like death.

Lightning smashed the ground and fires blazed out; death flooded from the skies.

When the heat died and the fires went out, the plains had turned to ash.

-          The Epic of Gilgamesh

Eldritch Armies is a free 72-page character option and director content expansion for Die Screaming that requires the base game to play. It includes the following new content:

The Demigod destiny. Prophesied warriors of mythology, with legendary appetites and power, destined to great deeds and terrible fates. Their wrath always rises to the challenge posed by their countless enemies.

The Wasteland Ranger destiny. Neo-medieval, pure-hearted champions perfectly adapted to the post-apocalypse, who know how to collect and use the body parts of monsters to better survive the wastes.

New monsters. Eleven new types of monsters for directors to challenge survivors with:

Crystalloids. Crystalline, glass-like inorganic life that kills with perfect symmetry.

Draugr. Undead tyrants who refuse to die out of sheer avarice and cruelty.

Faithless. Accursed and degenerate apostates beyond hope of salvation.

Fomorians. Mighty and ancient aspects of death, decay, and horror.

Fungals. Humans enslaved by a fungal infection until they become fungiform abominations.

Ghouls. Desolate and soulless eaters of the dead.

Gingivals. Horrific aliens made of calcified armor and digestive tract.

Lindwurms. Legendary beasts of the primordial chaos.

Megarachnids. Everything you hate about spiders in an unstoppable package.

Radioactive Zombies. Zombies that poison on the atomic level.

Shinobi. Fearsome and shadowy Japanese assassins.

What Is Die Screaming?

Die Screaming is a love letter to horror cinema of the last four decades. Every game of Die Screaming begins with a supernatural apocalypse and characters based on classic horror tropes.

As the game progresses, the survivors learn that to fight marauding armies of aliens, demons, eldritch abominations, mutants, zombies, and even vengeful angels, they must in turn become monsters.

Quick questions
1) Emissary says no sanity soak from cataclysm but the I can't find any mention of cataclysm giving sanity soak

2) How exactly does Primeval's natural weapon work?
I assume you would take cat/dogs natural weapon and staple the legend element feature to it or is that wrong?

3) Does the soak penalty from the longbow master talent stack on itself?

Hi Blakelee,

All great questions.

1) If your allies have any sanity soak normally, they don't receive it for the sanity damage caused by your cataclysm. So, a cataclysm roll of 7, indicating 1d6 sanity damage (page 4), is always taken as straight unsoaked sanity damage by your allies.

2) This is not currently well-defined, so I'll do an edit. I would say that you replace your natural weapon's statistics with the legendary weapon statistics if they are better (so, d6 damage becomes d12, but if you have a 19-20 crit on the old weapon, that stays like it is).

3) This talent should read that your enemy's physical soak is reduced only for that attack.

I will publish an update today that addresses these problems. Thanks for the questions!

Thank you for the assistance.

One last question, why do the hellspawn(through its brimstone talent) and xianxia demigod archetypes have mechanics to boost ongoing damage when neither has access to any powers which would cause it?

It's meant as something where you can get a lot of mileage out of teamwork, or out of other parts of your overall kit, like the Exterminator, Samurai, or Slayer trope.

I ran a three shot last year for Halloween, sadly couldn't use it for a full campaign. One of my players is a bit squeamish and eldritch horror was poking a bit too much at his buttons. What we did play was quite fun, runs a bit like 13th age or well written 4e.

That's pretty much exactly what I would hope to hear as far as experience. Always like to hear feedback.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
