Welcome to Simply6! Simply6 is a fast, light tabletop roleplaying game by Russ Morrissey for 2 or more players which you can play using just six-sided dice.

Simply6 is a multi-genre game. You can play in fantasy settings, science-fiction settings, or contemporary settings. You can play in the Wild West or a cyberpunk dystopia. The scope of your setting is entirely up to you, and these rules are simple and flexible enough to handle them all.

In this short rulebook, you’ll find sections which tell you the core rules, how to create a character, how to adjudicate magic and combat, and a list of monsters for your characters to fight.

It's small. It's simple. It's Simply6.

This short rulebook is a living document and will get updates. It contains two documents:

  • Simply6 rulebook, which also contains two starter one-page adventures and a bestiary.
  • Two-page PDF of character sheets

Hi, I bought your game a couple of days ago. Very nice system! I have a doubt thought. Do players do all the rolling or if you are attacked by a monster it's the Judge who will make the roll for the monster and compare it with the defensive skill of the PC?

Am I allowed to make up my own abilities along as the GM allows? Or give a character an ability based on there race?

Hello, may I ask a question about the 'Knowledge' skill? Is it intended that 'Knowledge' be broken out into separate fields of knowledge, such as 'Knowledge - Archaeology' or 'Knowledge - Criminology' or 'Knowledge - Accounting' based on the game being played? Or is it just 'Knowledge' and your character is plain ol' smart across every field of knowledge appropriate to the era and genre of the game? Thanks for any insight you can provide.

Monsters can have skills that aren't in the main list. Dragons have FLYING for example.

Aha. Well, it looks like $2.00 was the original price. I noticed the similarly weird things happening on many titles though. I spent at least an hour looking for goodies before the Christmas in July sale ends. Many, many titles had an increase in price. It seemed especially common in lower priced books.

Copying the text from above, it definitely says "$2.24 $2.99" with the $2.99 crossed out. I wonder if the line through the nines is making them look like zeroes for you? You may need to squint a little! :)

I'm not familiar with those games, so I can't make a comparison. This is a d6 dice pool (a very simplified expression of WOIN) with character sheets about the size of a credit card.

Simply6 v1.4 has just been uploaded. Changes:

- you cannot put all 3d6 in the same skill.
- your level is the total of your bonuses, not penalties.
- you therefore start at level 3.
- your health is your level.
- if you spend a round aiming (ranged), feinting (melee), or focusing (magic) you get +1d6 to an attack in the subsequent round.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
